Celebrating Our Schools
St. Thomas More Parish serves 11 schools. On Sunday, No-
vember 3 we celebrate Catholic Education Sunday with
families from all schools at the 10 am Sunday mass. We
want to include our schools in parish life on an ongoing ba-
sis. This year we will be asking each of our 11 schools to be
featured once or twice at our regular Sunday 12 noon Mass.
The families in each school will be notified and invited to
take part. The first school to participate will be St. Mary on
Sunday, November 17 at the 12 noon mass when teach-
ers, parents and students will be responsible for some liturgi-
cal ministries – including readers and greeters.
By welcoming these students and families to actively partici-
pate in our Sunday liturgies, we hope to encourage them to
attend our parish on a regular basis. Our regular ministry
volunteers will need to adapt as this program continues in
the coming months, but we believe that families and youth
are the future of our Church and that this is a wonderful op-
portunity for us to reach out to them.
As a parish we will benefit from the schools’ enthusiasm and
zest for life. Let us welcome these families and teachers with
Christian openness and love.
It is in this way that we, the parish
community, show grace and are
GrACE as we strive to spread the
message of the Gospel of Christ to
all those in our Catholic school district and beyond.
Please note: November 11th is Remembrance Day
and the office will be closed.

This week our suggestion is for the children of the par-
ish: The Jesus Stories, created to help children apply the les-
sons found in the parables of Jesus. Each 10 minute episode
includes a story situation that children can relate to, a parable
and a thought provoking way to apply it. Our parish access
code is TBQYW9.
“The Son of Man came to seek out and to save the lost.”
Most people on the journey of life stumble or get lost along the way. This Sunday’s Gospel shows us
that even great sinners like the wealthy tax collector, Zacchaeus, can have the heart of a child want-
ing to see who Jesus is. Zacchaeus risks making a fool of himself by climbing a tree. And when Jesus
looked up and spoke to him, he really saw what Jesus was like: this teacher invited himself to stay at
his house! And Jesus called him by name, so he must have known exactly in whose house he would
be a guest. Everyone on the street that day knew too. The murmur was audible: “Gone to a sinner’s
house.”Zacchaeus was transformed by the realization that a man like Jesus would choose to reside
with him. It would change the way he did business. That is the way it always is.

Sunday ♥ Catholic Education ♥ Sunday
Did you know?
There are 5 Precepts of the Catholic Church. These Precepts are
responsibilities we accept and support as faithful Catholics, one of
which is to support the various needs of the Church. Catholic Edu-
cation and its support would come under this particular Precept.
Consequently, parents of school aged children should understand
that if possible they ought to send their children to a Catholic
School. Why? To send your child to a Catholic School is one way
to assist in his or her moral and spiritual formation as well as aca-
demic instruction. A Catholic Education complements the excellent
beginning parents provide in the home as well as through the les-
sons children receive in the Mass on Sunday.
Catholic Schools in Alberta are publicly funded (meaning no extra
tuition nor personal monies are required): this is a gift and an op-
portunity on many levels. As a citizen it is your civic right; as a
Catholic it becomes our faith responsibility. If we as Catholics
choose not to send our children to our Catholic Schools, we should
consider: what message does it send, how does it affect the future
of Catholic Education, and what will it mean for the Church?
Please share this information with family, fellow Parishioners, new
immigrants, and friends. They are welcome to speak to any Parish
or Catholic School for further information. Publicly funded Catho-
lic Education is of inestimable value to our children and great bene-
fit to our society’s future.
Prayers for the Sick
We care about the sick and suffering in our
parish and pray for them daily. These prayers
are included in the intentions of the rosary that
we pray before the Eucharist.
May they receive the peace & healing of the Lord

Roger Plouffe, a parishioner from St. Thomas More who is our contact in Fort Good Hope, for the North of 60 Program would like to thank everyone who made it possible to send a Sea-can to the community last spring. It was filled with food, clothing, and other supplies. The sea-can will stay there and be used for storage.
Thank you to the Knights of Columbus, the CWL and all of our parishioners who donated or volunteered in any way. Of note, members from our Youth Group painted a beautiful mural on one side, which will be blessed by the community on Dec 9th, the Feast of the Immaculate Concep-tion. This mural has received many comments and people are especially impressed when they find out who the paint-ers are. They are recruiting local artists to paint the other side this spring. Many thanks to Lou Normand who is the coordinator for North of 60 for St. Thomas More Parish.
