Mission Statement

We, the pastor, staff and parents of St. Thomas More Parish School,

are committed to developing the minds, hearts and souls of our students.

By planting faith-filled seeds of good habits,

we open our students’ minds to knowledge, their hearts to service

and their souls to the beauty of God’s creation.

Statement of Philosophy

We believe that each child can be formed into a responsible individual

with values rooted in Christian precepts. We strive to maintain a profound

sense of purpose to build within each student a deep respect for God,

self, others, and property. All school personnel, families and students are

challenged to lead, teach and learn the way of accepting personal

responsibility for one’s own actions and to grow in wisdom, age and grace

before God and one another. The goal of the St. Thomas More Parish

School experience is to open the mind to knowledge, the heart to service

and the soul to God’s presence in creation.

The STM symbol was specifically designed for the

celebration of the Silver Anniversary of St. Thomas

More Parish School. This symbol portrays the basic

principles of Catholic education. The cross

represents the central theme of Christianity, while

the quill stands for scholarship. The unfinished circle

emphasizes the never-ending quest for knowledge.

Fifteen seventh grade STM students were selected to participate in the Duke University Talent

Identification Program. This program identifies academically-talented students and provides

innovative programs supporting the development of their optimal educational potential. To qualify,

students must score in the 95 percentile or higher on their 7 grade SAT in Math and/orth th

St. Thomas More Parish School Budget 2018-2019

The St. Thomas More Parish Endowment Foundation was established in 1991 with the

mission to provide financial support and insure the long term viability of our school.

Planned gifts are important, needed and allow the school to accomplish great things.

There is no better way to plan for future growth and strength! You may endow STM

with the stroke of a pen. Through a charitable bequest in your will or living trust, you can

ensure that the school will keep its doors open to qualified students whose families

seek a Catholic education. This thoughtful act, which has little or no current financial

impact on you, may result in the largest one-time gift you ever make to St. Thomas More

St. Thomas More Endowment Foundation

In 1991, St. Thomas More Parish took an important step to insure the future of its

parish school by forming the St. Thomas More Endowment Foundation. This fund,

created by Msgr. Thomas Donovan and others, was formed for the sole purpose

of providing financial support to the parish school. The Endowment Fund is

managed by a Board of Directors, which consists of the Pastor, the Financial

Director of the Parish, the School Board President, and three at-large members.

The Board is responsible for managing the investment of the principle in the fund,

as well as directing distributions for the benefit of the school.

Contributions from fundraisers (such as Oktoberfest and private donations,

including planned estate giving), along with returns on investment, have allowed the

balance in the fund to grow to over $1 million. This year the Endowment Board

authorized a distribution of $60,000 directly to the 2018-2019 School Budget.
