Hello Everyone,
LAST WEEK’S SCHOOL CLOSURE DAYS
YEAR 5 & 6 CAMP
EUCHARIST FAITH NIGHT
I hope you all made the most of the shortened school week last week and the long weekend. On Tues-
day the school photo shoot went very smoothly and I must admit I was very impressed with the
efficiency of the company. I hope their photos turn out as well as their production.
The entire staff all now have a Level 2 First Aid qualification. Our day with Dr Ian
Lillico on ‘Boys Education’ was very informative and confirmed the great work our
teachers currently do with a physiological background. It also explained certain be-
haviours and learning style differences between boys and girls. The staff all took
copious amounts of notes and now look at how boys of certain ages learn.
Last night the school held an information session about our upcoming Year 5/6
school camp to Waratah Bay. The camp commences on Wednesday, 27th March
with students returning to school on Friday afternoon, 29th March.
This camp is an outdoor adventure camp where for the first time we are allow-
ing the children to have a surfing lesson, if they are keen, and some other more
adventurous activities than previously offered in the past. Rest assured all the
risk assessments have been done and every activity around the water will have
life guards in attendance.
Families of children making their sacrament of the Eucharist (First Commun-
ion) are expected to attend a Faith Night next Wednesday at 7.00 pm. If the
night is anything like the General Faith Night it should be very enlightening.
The night will be held in the church.
Enrolments are now being taken for Prep 2020.
Families with siblings due to commence in 2020 can obtain
enrolment forms from the school office.
ENRICHMENT AND CARE
Yesterday, Mrs Theresa Egglezos and Mr Peter Sist accompanied our School Leaders to a Student
Leadership Day at the Melbourne Convention Centre. This is a great day with excellent speakers,
directly pitched at senior primary school leaders. Our student leaders enjoyed attending the Leader-
ship Day and hope to implement what they learnt at our school.
STUDENT LEADERSHIP
Tomorrow, Friday, the School Captains and RE Leaders will ac-
company Mr Matt Wals and myself to St Patrick’s Cathedral for
the annual St Patrick’s Day Mass, celebrated by the Archbishop.
Over one thousand students attend this special celebration from
schools all over Melbourne. It is a “high” Mass with all the pomp
and ceremony and a great experience for the children to partici-
pate in. Following Mass we will all head down to the Treasury
Gardens for lunch and a concert. This is an early celebration of St
Patrick’s Day which actually falls on Sunday.
ST PATRICK’S DAY MASS
Tomorrow our Fire Carrier Leaders will be attending their first professional
learning training day in their role as Fire Carriers. Mrs Theresa Egglezos will
accompany the children to the Melbourne Museum.

Wishing everyone a happy St Patrick’s Day for Sunday!
A reminder to all Year 5 and 6 parents that School Camp permission and
medication forms need to be completed and returned to school by
Wednesday, 20th March, 2019.

WELLBEING @ ST THOMAS
STAR ON THE YARD At assembly this week we launched a new initiative - ‘Star On The Yard’ as part of our whole
school approach to promoting School Wide Positive Behaviour. This is to promote positive behav-
iour and acknowledge students who are doing amazing things out on the yard.
Students can be nominated by a School Captain, Peer Mediator or a Teacher. Each week 1 student
will be announced as ‘Star On The Yard’, and will receive a certificate of acknowledgement and our
Star On The Yard trophy to keep (at school) on their desk for the week.
