ROSARY BEFORE ALL MASSES IN MAY In our Catholic Faith, the month of May is dedicated to the Holy Rosary, one of the best known of all

Catholic devotions. The Rosary begins 25 minutes before Mass is to start. You are invited to please arrive a little early, bring your Rosary and pray with us.

SCRIPTURE CORNER JOURNEY OF FAITH We are on a long and eventful journey. Today’s readings for Trinity Sunday succinctly cover the depth and breadth of our human travels. The very beginnings of our journey are revealed in the reading from Proverbs. God’s plan filled with divine wisdom was born before the earth was made. In today’s Gospel, Jesus speaks of His own per-sonal journey. He has come from the Father and will return to the Father. Only then will the Advocate—the Spirit of Truth—take us onward. This does not diminish the fact that the journey will be hard. The very setting of the Gospel is the night before Jesus died. As Saint Paul writes to the Romans, “[W]e even boast of our afflictions, knowing that affliction produces endurance, and endurance, proven character, and proven character, hope” (Romans 5:3-4). Ultimately, our human journey is modeled by the Holy Trinity—a family of love among Father, Son, and Spirit that we are all called to emulate. ———-Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

SOLEMNITY OF THE MOST HOLY TRINITY As we celebrate the mystery of the Trinity we also realize the mystery of how much God loves and cares for us each day. Believing in this, our lives can then overflow in thanksgiving and praise. Is there a family you know who needs assistance? Please call the Society of St. Vincent de Paul so that together we can help those who are suffering. Contact 228-822-0609.

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY The Society of St. Vincent de Paul would like to say "Thank You" to all who gave to our annual collection on May 14th and 15th. St. Thomas the Apostle Parish has always been very supportive of our mission to help the needy in Long Beach. So when you donate cans of food, place money in the poor box, and yes, even offer prayers, this allows us to hand them over to the Lord and say, "Here is the daily bread for your people; let us help as many as we can with what we've got." There is more that can be done, for "the poor will be always with us," Jesus said. But the miracles, the small wonders, do happen. Thank you for your donation of $4,549.00! It is not too late to donate, if you missed last week. Please drop in the collection basket, and mark St. Vincent de Paul Society.

SUMMER SCRIPTURE STUDY Each Wednesday in June, starting June 1st and continuing to June 29th.

Do you look around at Mass and see drunken church-goers, then you might be a Corinthian. If your fellow parishioners are hazy about church doctrine, then you might be a Corinthian.

Does the Pastoral Council break out into fist-fights, if so then you might be a Corinthian. And if the priest cuts Mass short so he can get to the golf course, then you just might be a Corinthian!

If you, or someone you love, might be a Corinthian, join us as we study Saint Paul’s first letter to us.

Wednesday evenings in June. 7:00, 2nd floor, parish office complex No pre-registration necessary.

CATHOLIC SCHOOL TUITION LOWERED Yes, there is a way to lower the rate of tuition for a family who wishes to enroll their children in Grades K-12 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Elementary School, St. Patrick High School and Our Lady Academy. There is a form available at the school office for families to apply for parish subsidy. The form should be turned in to the parish office for completion. Eligibility for parish subsidy—the lower rate of tuition—is based on the family being registered members of the parish, attending Mass here at St. Thomas regularly, and making regular contributions to the financial support of the parish by using the church support envelopes mailed to your home or the electronic method of contrib-uting (if you want to sign up for the electronic method, please call the parish office). We are well aware that tuition in Catholic schools is expensive—we believe it is well worth the sacrifices made by the families who choose to have their children educated in the Catholic school system.

HOLY COMMUNION TO THE HOSPITAL We have a great group of men and women who bring Holy Communion to patients at Memorial Hospital. They visit every day except Saturday. There is a list kept in the Hospital Chaplain’s office that should contain the names of all patients who are from St. Thomas the Apostle Parish. However, we have come across times when there is someone from St. Thomas Parish whose name is not listed. When you or a family member is in Memorial Hospital, it is very important that you make sure on the admission forms that you let them know that you are Cath-olic and that you are from St. Thomas the Apostle Parish. Sometimes when admissions go through the Emergency Room, the patient’s religious affiliation is not listed. If you want to receive visits and/or the Eucharist while you are at Memorial Hospital, be sure the Admissions Office has your religious affiliation and you are listed under St. Thomas the Apostle Parish. We certainly do not want to overlook anyone. Please help us make sure everyone who wants to be visited is listed under St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.

SUMMER TRAVELS AND MASS By making an online visit to www.masstimes.org summer travelers can locate churches, addresses, phone numbers and Mass schedules. One must enter the city or zip code of the area to obtain the information. Those with-out internet access can get that same information by call-ing 858-207-6277.

EMERGENCIES In case of medical emer-gency, the church does have an Automated External Defibrilla-tor, located in the back of the church, to the right of the door where the priests get changed for Mass. .
