Jesus said, “You are the light of the world . . . let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:14-16). Jesus is the light of the world. As Christians, we are the light of the world because we reflect the light of Jesus. When we live our lives in such a way that people are able to see the difference Christ makes in us, our lights shine brightly. Interestingly, Jesus does not say that He wants us to be lights, but that we are lights because He has changed us into people who live to glorify and serve Him.

3rd Annual St. Trinity Family Fish Cookout Tuesday, October 11 at 6:00 pm
The Annual Family Fish Cookout will be on Tuesday, October 11th at 6:00 pm. The cost is $10 per person and you have a choice of salmon or mahi mahi. A sign-up sheet is available in the Narthex. You many bring a salad or dessert to pass.
Preschool will be holding its annual fall fundraiser from October 7
th-October 21
st. We are using the same Michigan
based company as last year, Aspire Fundraising. They offer a wide variety of home décor items, kitchen gadgets, flower bulbs, wrapping paper, gourmet food, sweet treats, and many
other products for both your own enjoyment and gift-giving. Julie Schultz will be at church services Saturday and Sunday, October 15

take orders. Payment is due when orders are placed. Thank-you for your continuous support of our church’s preschool program!
Over the past month I have continued to keep St. Trinity in my prayers asking that God continue to bring you healing and peace in this troubled time. I am most grateful for the prayers and support offered in my closing days as your pastor. Karen and I are also so very thankful for your heart-felt gifts through the door offering and other means to assist us with our expenses
over the coming few months. I pray God's blessings and peace upon you as we continue to serve the true and living God through the power of His Spirit!

Even though it is barely fall, the Holiday Season will soon be upon us. Look for the materials and supplies table to be up by the end of September or early October. God already knows the children who will receive our gift boxes. For information about this project, contact Sharon Gehrke at 248.620.2011.
QUILTS ON DISPLAY OCTOBER 4-9
The St. Trinity Quilt Makers have been busy again this year. They will display some of their completed quilts and pillowcases in the Sanctuary during Worship services and in the Narthex October 4th — 9th. Sale begins Oct. 8th and ends on Oct. 9th. Pillowcases are $10/ea. and all proceeds for these will go to the St. Trinity Alms fund. American Vet Lap Robes are on display only—not for sale. LWR Quilt sales will support future quilting supply needs. Anyone wanting to hold a quilt to purchase, fill out an attached tag on the quilt giving contact information. Prices will be on the accompanying tag and will range from $20 — $100.00. Make checks payable to Annette Ashley. Remaining unsold quilts will be delivered to the LWR pick up site in Flint at the end of October.

2017 OFFERING COUNTERS NEEDED We are looking for volunteers who can spare about 3 or 4 Sundays a year after church helping with counting the weekly offerings. Detailed instructions are provided and teams are formed with experienced counters to work with. If you have fair math skills and are willing to volunteer, please contact Gretchen in the church office or D’Arcy Gonzales at [email protected].

We are also in need of members to greet visitors on Sunday mornings. You may choose either the early or late service to serve. Just a handshake and a few welcoming words to visitors is all that is needed. Call the church office if you can serve as a greeter.

YOUTH CONFIRMATION CLASS A confirmation meeting will be held on Sunday, October 2 at 10 am. All parents & students please plan to attend. RETIRED MEN’S BIBLE STUDY Topic is “Life of Jesus: Passion”. Leader: Karl Schneider. Meets every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month from 9:30am-11:00 am. Next class is on Oct. 4th. LADIES BIBLE CLASS Meets every 1st and 3rd Tuesday from 9:30-11:00am and are currently doing a study of “Job”. Next class is Oct. 4th. WOMEN’S BIBLE CLASS We have begun a 6-session journey on “Learning to Trust God” (John Ortberg). We meet the 2nd & 4th Wednesdays of the month at 9:30 am. Next class Oct. 12th.
MEN’S BIBLE STUDY Meets Tuesday nights at 7:00 pm in the Family Life classrooms from October—April. Join us in October when we continue our study of Luther’s Small Catechism.
LADIES’ LIFELIGHT BIBLE CLASS Meets Tuesday evenings from mid-September to mid-June at 7:00 pm in the FLC classrooms. Please join us.
SMALL GROUP BIBLE STUDIES Meets at members homes the 4th Friday of the month from 7-9 pm. We are now doing the study, “Crazy Love”.
QUILT MAKERS The St. Trinity quilting group make quilts for Lutheran World Relief and American Veterans. We meet every Tuesday from 1-3 pm. We meet again on Oct 4. See Annette Ashley for more information.
KNITTING GROUP The knitting group meets September -May. Currently they are regrouping and planning their schedule for this year. We will have more information soon. For questions, speak with Carol Koenig or Judy Spresney.

COMMEMORATIVE BRICK PAVER
PROGRAM Would you like to place a
brick in St. Trinity’s Memorial Garden in honor of someone? We are taking orders through November at a special price. 4 x 8 bricks are $20.00 and 8 x 8 bricks are $30.00. Each brick is engraved with up to 5 lines with each line having a 14 character limit. Then in the spring, your brick will be placed in St. Trinity’s Memorial Garden. Now is the time to order one or several. Order forms are available in the Narthex and the church office.
FALL CLEAN UP SAT., OCTOBER 15

Join us on Saturday, October 15 from 8 am — noon for the church fall clean up. Many areas need attention to prepare the church property for the winter months just like our homes do. Please consider giving a few hours of you time for this very important task. The rain date will be Saturday, October 22 also from 8 am — noon.
