A PRAYER for MOTHERS

Heavenly Father, You have given each person the precious gift of having a mother.

Throughout the ages, mothers have been the unsung heroes of our lives, content with little things; a smile, a thank you, a token remembrance.

May all mothers learn from the example set by Jesus’ mother, Mary,

our Mother in Heaven

Let us always remember our mothers as a treasure which You have given us,

whether they are still with us or in heaven

Pour down Your grace on all mothers today and every day, and help each one of

us to live our lives based on the good examples, love and devotion which

we have learned from them. Amen.

A Recipe For: The Rosary From: Our Blessed Mother

1 Apostles’ Creed 20 Mysteries of Faith 6 Our Fathers extract 53 Hail Mary (5 Joyful, 5 Luminous, 5 Glory Be 5 Sorrowful, 5 Glorious) 1 Hail Holy Queen

Blend first four ingredients. Alternately add 5 Mysteries. Top with Hail Holy Queen. Serves any number.

This is one of my favorite recipes!

Love,

Mom

NEW ADMINISTRATOR NAMED

Archbishop George Niederauer has name Reverend Charles Puthota as the new Administrator of St. Veronica Parish, effective July 1, 2008. Father Charles was born in Kilacheri, a small town of about 2500 people 30 miles west of Madras in the southern state of Tamilnadu in India. Kilacheri is a very Catholic town, having produced over 90 nuns, 60 priests, and an Archbishop. Fr. Charles studied at St. Ignatius School in Kilacheri and at Don Bosco Salesian High School in Pannur (5 miles away). He attended Loyola College in Madras and then joined the Jesuits. During the 16 years of Jesuit formation, Fr. Charles earned a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry (with minors in Physics and Math), a master’s degree in English, and bachelor degrees in Philosophy and Theology. He holds a Ph. D. from Marquette University in Wisconsin in American Literature (1999). After teaching in India for three years, Fr. Charles joined the Archdiocese of San Francisco in November of 2002 and has served at Holy Name of Jesus Parish in San Francisco, Nativity Parish in Menlo Park, and St. Patrick’s in San Francisco. Fr. Charles feels lucky to live in sunny California and considers San Francisco, “One of the most beautiful cities in the whole world.” Fr. Charles notes, “I would like to think of my mission and happiness as inextricably linked with the service of people. My definition of a priest is simple: to be a friend. I never cease to be grateful for the call and privilege of being a priest, a friend to everyone.”

WELCOME, FR. PUTHOTA

As you can see from the column on the left, Fr. Charles Puthota will take the helm here at St. Veron-ica’s on July 1st. I sincerely trust and hope that he will experience the same joyful friendliness that I have found among the Saint Veronica parishioners in all my days here. I will receive a new assignment, too, in the coming days, and I confidently move on, knowing that your prayers go with me. But until July, I will still be serving here at St. Veronica’s, and assisting Fr. Puthota in his transition. I urge you to give him a great welcome just as I hope to be welcomed into whatever parish I will be sent to. I consider myself truly blessed in my past assignments at Church of the Epiphany in San Francisco, St. Robert’s in San Bruno, and these last six years here at St. Veronica. Though adjusting to changes takes time, this Easter season shows us that God has wonderful things in store for those who trust Him. God is with us!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR KINDNESS

On behalf of my family, I want to thank all of you here at St. Veronica’s for your generous outpouring of prayers and words of consolation after the recent death of my father, John J. Taheny, Jr.

We appreciate the many Masses and prayers of-fered for his soul and for our family, and want you to know how much they have helped us at this time, and into the future.

May God bless you all in this Easter season with an ever-deepening faith in the Resurrection.

Gratefully,

Fr. Mark Taheny
