Fr. Del’s Points to Ponder After going through some of the hottest days on record in Cincinnati, we are now enjoying the temperatures and weather that remind us about the bounties of autumn. We can all be thankful, even with our see-saw seasons, that the harvest of the earth shows how good God is to us. There are so many reasons for us to be grateful; God blesses us with abundance. These thoughts are not merely words, but the Christian foundation of stewardship. Everything we have is a gift from God – everything. You and I spend our lives in gratitude because God is so good. And, even more, Christians attempt to share their resources with others, whether those are material, financial, or time. One of the common themes in our listening sessions regarding current situations in the Catholic Church is a concern about how sacrificial offerings are used beyond our parish. Parishioners are typically very generous, and because they are good stewards, now question how the support beyond our parish is used. I certainly understand the concern. #iGiveCatholic is a way that you can ensure 100% of your gift stays at our Parish. I encourage you to read the explanation below, and then prayerfully consider donating directly to our parish on December 3rd. If you typically give an end-of-year donation, this would be an excellent way to do so. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask.
*******************************************************************************IMPORTANT UPDATE
St. Veronica is participating in this year’s #iGiveCatholic on #GivingTuesday, sponsored by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. It is a 24-hour opportunity for you to make a donation to our
parish and have 100% (less bank fees) stay here at St. Veronica Church. Fr. Del’s Points to Ponder above gives more information about why this might be of interest to you; this section is devoted to how you can participate. Donations can be made from 1:00 a.m., EST, Tuesday, December 3rd through 12:59 a.m. on Wednesday, December 4th. The easiest way is to visit our website at stveronica.org, and click on the “#iGiveCatholic Donate Now” button on the homepage, or by visiting cincinnati.igivecatholic.org, and searching for St. Veronica Church in the upper right hand corner. Make your donation online using your Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express. Donors giving $100.00 or more will have the options to pay by bank account debit. (ACH).The Archdiocese will not assess donations made through #iGiveCatholic – the full amount of your gift will go to St. Veronica Church minus the credit card/ACH transaction fees. Credit card fees total 6.2% of the donation amount plus $0.30; ACH fees total 4% of the donation amount plus $3.00. You will have the option to cover these fees at the time of your donation and you will receive a tax deduction on the full amount.Online donors will immediately receive a tax receipt for their gift via email from #iGiveCatholic. Your #iGiveCatholic donation will be recorded in our data base under your donor number. The minimum online donation is $25.00; there is no maximum. If you have any questions, contact Mary Beth Dawson in the Business Office at 513-688-3142.

NOTES FROM THE STEWARDSHIP COMMISSIONSt. Veronica’s 7 Commissions are looking for new members. Have you ever thought about serving on either Parish Council, Education, Faith Formation, Finance, Outreach, Stewardship or Worship Commissions? Please prayerfully consider joining and sharing your time and talent in any of those ministries. If interested, please contact the appropriate person listed in the bulletin.
FAITH DIRECTFaith Direct is an online donation processing organization currently being used by over 1/3 of St. Veronica parishioners. It is a convenient and hassle-free way to support our parish, St. Vincent de Paul, the Outreach Power Pack program, all the Holy Day collections and all the collections initiated by the Archdiocese. Please consider using Faith Direct and avoid scrambling around to find envelopes. Visit [email protected]. Our parish code is OH 221.
FROM THE ST. VINCENT DE PAUL FOOD PANTRYThe Food of the Month for November is HEARTY SOUPS. This is a very popular item now that the weather is getting cooler. By not having to purchase this item, we are better able to provide some financial help with utilities, rent and even prescriptions for those in real need within our parish boundary. Please place your donations in the blue barrels outside the church entrance the weekend of November 9 and 10.
HAPPENING AT IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY PARISH“If Heaven is the Inheritance of the Holy, What is Holiness?”
presented by Fr. David Endres Thursday, November 14, from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Build your Family of Faith with this family event! We will provide pizza, salad and dessert for dinner at 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. Then children ages 1 and walking up to age 6 may go over to the Welcome Center for babysitting, children ages 7-12 may meet with a catechist for children’s activities, and those over age 13 and adults move to the Heritage Hall for the presentation. The cost is simply a $5.00 donation to cover the cost of dinner.
To register, please go to Sign Up Genius at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F0B49A4A923A0FA7-parish1, or contact the Formation Office at 513-388-4093. Please contact Donna Wenstrup at 513-388-4189 with questions.
THE NATIONAL COLLECTION FOR THE ARCHDIOCESE FOR THE MILITARY SERVICES (AMS), USA, IS NEXT WEEKEND.
The AMS is responsible for providing a full range of pastoral ministries to those serving in the U.S. Armed Services, those enrolled in Military Academies, and those receiving care at any of the VA Medical Centers. AMS has no parishes for a weekly collection and must rely on private donations and a national collection every three years for support. If you wish to contribute, there are special collection envelopes in the Narthex.
EUCHARISTIC ADORATION: WEDNESDAY, 1:00 UNTIL 7:00 P.M.

MASS PLUS – A NEW PARISH LEARNING OPPORTUNITY
The most important thing we do as a parish, Fr. Del always reminds us, is Sunday Mass. You know how Mass goes, what to do or say. But what is happening on a deeper level? How can you more deeply pray the Mass, and not just attend it?
This school year, the Faith Formation Commission is offering a monthly event called Mass Plus – an addition to 9:30 or 11:30 a.m. Mass. Stay after 9:30 a.m. or come early for 11:30 a.m., or come back if you’ve been to 4:00 or 8:00 p.m.! Adults and kids 4th Grade and up start together, then adults stay with Emily Besl and children go with Bill Frantz to explore the meaning of the Mass and why we do the things we do.
Each month, we’ll look at different parts of the Mass.
Come to all or come when you can.
• For adults and older children (4th Grade and up) • Once a month
• Between 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. Masses on Sundays • In the school cafeteria, 10:35 to 11:20 a.m.
• Short, informal, 45 minutes
DATES: November 17, December 15, January 12,
February 9, March 8, April 19, May 17, June 14

THIRTY-FIRST SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME NOVEMBER 3, 2019
SACRAMENTS OF INITIATION The Sacrament of Baptism for infants is scheduled on Sundays, either at Mass or at 12:30 p.m. Expectant parents should plan on attending the Baptismal Preparation Program, held six times a year. Call the Parish Office to schedule the Baptism and Preparation Program. The Sacrament of Baptism for adults and school age children is usually celebrated at the Easter Vigil, along with the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist. Preparation occurs in steps and stages throughout the year with weekly meetings on Sunday after 9:30 a.m. Mass. Call Emily Besl at 688-3143, or the Parish Office for more information.
SACRAMENTS OF HEALING The Sacrament of Penance (Reconciliation or Confession) is celebrated each Saturday, 2:30-3:30 p.m., or by appointment with the pastor. Seasonal Penance Services are also celebrated. The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick may be scheduled by calling the pastor before a medical procedure, or in the event of a serious illness, or after each Mass on the fifth Sunday of the month. When hospitalized, please notify the Parish Office; this is the only way we know if a parishioner has been hospitalized. In case of medical emergency or death, call the Parish Office and follow prompts.
SACRAMENTS OF COMMITMENT The Sacrament of Marriage is scheduled by calling the pastor or deacon to begin the process of marriage preparation, at least six months prior to the anticipated wedding date. A date for the wedding is set only after meeting with the pastor or deacon. Discernment for the Sacrament of Orders (ordination to the Priesthood and Diaconate) is facilitated by contacting the pastor or Vocation Director of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. Those interested in pursuing Religious Life may also make these contacts.
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION PROGRAM The Religious Education Program (R.E.P.) for children (ages 3 years through 8th Grade) begins each year in September and ends in May. Call Theresa Kearney, Coordinator of Children’s Faith Formation, or Barb Farwick, Administrative Assistant, at 688-3155 for more information.
