Stacey Abrams was raised with the values of faith, family, service, and responsibility. Abrams believes in the importance of treating every person, including members of the immigrant community who are part of the fabric of our state, with basic human dignity and respect.

Those are the Georgia values that will ensure every family has the freedom and opportunity to thrive.

Abrams will be a governor who stands up for all communities:

1. Abrams believes it is vital that our nation pursue fair, just, and comprehensive immigration reform that balances the conversation of safety with the need to create a pathway to citizenship for individuals who are in this country, and recognizes America’s role in the world as a place of refuge and asylum for those who are fleeing persecution and harm.

2. The next governor of Georgia has a responsibility to protect all our people. That means working alongside law enforcement to assist them in protecting and serving all communities. Georgia must reject behavior that forces people in to the shadows and prevents them from reporting crimes, either as a victim or a witness. That undermines the ability of law enforcement to do their job and harms us all.

3. Abrams opposes the cruel, immoral practice of separating migrant children from their parents and demands the administration end this brutal practice immediately. Regardless of political party, all of us must stand up and speak up for the voiceless – or risk inflicting irreparable damage on these families and to our nation.

4. Abrams knows we must educate all of Georgia’s children from cradle to career. Too often, students feel left out or excluded by the educational system meant to serve them. As Governor, Abrams will propose and support policies for early learning, K-12 and higher education that serve every community in Georgia, including our Dreamers and those children who speak English as a second language.

• Immigrant communities experience barriers to affordable child care, as parents struggle to afford care. Georgia must prioritize early learning as essential to our children’s foundation. Abrams fought to preserve a full day of PreK and has

introduced a child care plan to make care for children ages 0-3 accessible and affordable.

• Abrams will be Georgia’s Public Education Governor. She will fully fund public education and ensure excellent K-12 public schools. Abrams will also foster respect for student diversity by enacting policies that meet students and parents where they are and provide solutions that meet individual needs, including supports for ESL learners, students of color, children with disabilities, and low-income students.

• Abrams has a plan for higher education that helps put every Georgian on a pathway to debt-free post-secondary education. Many people do not realize that the governor has the ability to appoint the Board of Regents, which oversees our post-secondary system. As Governor, Abrams will make sure immigrants, women, people of color, and people with disabilities serve on the Board of Regents. Abrams also knows we must provide pathways for DACA recipients to access higher education in Georgia.

5. An Abrams administration will foster a thriving and diverse economy in every part of the state.

• Small businesses are a critical component of a thriving economy for Georgia, and particularly crucial for immigrant communities. But our state does not do enough to support small businesses or entrepreneurs. Abrams is a successful small business owner who understands how to uplift small businesses, and as governor, she will make sure Main Street businesses thrive and workers have the tools needed to succeed.

• She co-founded NOWAccount, a financial technology firm which helped 350 Georgia businesses create or retain more than 2,000 jobs across the state. She already has a record of uplifting small businesses owned by and catering to diverse communities and will continue this as governor.

• Abrams’ Economic Mobility Plan will lift up Georgia workers by helping them save more of their hard-earned money, growing their skills, ending workplace discrimination, and expanding opportunities for Georgians with disabilities.

6. As governor, Abrams will be an effective and engaged leader. Right now, our elected leaders exclude the voices of too many communities and often introduce legislation that would demonize immigrant communities. Abrams has consistently opposed such legislation. As Governor, Abrams will work to include the immigrant community to move our state forward and build a Georgia where every family can thrive.
