Higher Education Grant

• The purpose of the Higher Education Grant program is to provide supplemental financial assistance to eligible QT Tribal members entering College who are seeking an associate or baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution of higher education.

Who is eligible for the Grant

• Must be an enrolled member of the QT Tribe.

• Must be accepted for admissions to a nationally accredited institution of higher education.

• Must demonstrate financial need as determined by the financial aid officer of the college institute.

• Must have a 2.5 GPA

Training/Employment Assistance Training Program is to provide vocational training and employment assistance training to improve skills, and provide increased employment opportunities to our Tribal members.

Healing to Wellness Teen Juvenile Court

Mission Statement

Our mission is to establish a Teen Wellness Court with clear processes and rules. This court will decrease youth substance use and juvenile offenses, facilitate youth making healthy life choices, facilitate families spending more time together, and decrease the number of youth being processed through the Alaska State Juvenile process.

Planning Phase

The Teen Juvenile Wellness Court has been established and implemented with our junior and high school students.

The Juvenile Healing to Wellness Court will be staffed with Tribal Judges and Teens.

We plan to work with the local Police and school officials to meet the needs of the youth and families.

Goals

• Work with junior and high school students and get a youth peer court assembled and use as needed.

• Get more peer training for youth.

• Have more training for school staff.

• Use Teen Wellness Court more often.

Funding for Culture Camp

• This year Culture Camp was held for 10 days costing

about $74,000 Culture Camp is totally funded by

donations and a few small grants from Fish and Wildlife

and Aleutian Housing.

• We now have more local Instructors in our community and

we strive to hire more apprentices every year. It takes a

lot of time and money to have an annual Culture Camp

and we hope to continue doing so in the future.

• Next year will be our 20th year of having Culture Camp in

Sand Point.
