TRANSCRIPT
Dear Parents and Carers, We hope our Hindu families had a wonderful Diwali and we wish you a
Happy and Prosperous New Year.
Lots of exciting activities have taken or are taking place over the last few weeks. Currently, 36 pupils are with Miss Norris, Miss Apperley, Miss Ducra and Miss Vaizey in Norfolk. This trip is helping Yr6 pupils
understand more about World War II and what evacuated children would
experience. The children remaining in London are also studying WWII and undertaking activities and trips to enrich their learning about this
historical topic. More information will be available when the children
return.
Additionally, two of our pupils, Rishaan in Yr3 and Dian in Yr5, had a wonderful opportunity to be mascots in the recent O2 ATP Nitto Tennis Finals on Monday 12th November. The school was invited to take part as we work closely with the RRS Team at UNICEF. They had a fantastic time; an experience they will always re-member.
BBC Children in Need
Hopefully some of our families will have watched Children in Need last Friday night and would have seen our amazing choir singing ‘A Million Dreams’. The children worked with BBC staff at Elstree and were really excited by this amazing experience; it was for a very worthwhile cause.
I would like to say a huge thank you to Miss Vaizey who passionately wanted her pupils to be part of this once in a life time opportunity and completed the myriads of paperwork to enable this to happen. A huge thank you too to Mrs Mepani, Mrs Hashmee and Mrs Vaizey for giving up Friday evening to supervise the children at Elstree. Please go to our website to see the lovely photos.
National Kindness Day
Tuesday 13th November was Kindness Day and the pupils and staff pledged kindnesses across the school. Mrs Ani Devlia led an assembly along with two colleagues from the Museum of Happiness. We hope we will continue to work with them over the coming year, learning about the skills for happiness. I would definitely like to visit the Museum of
Happiness!

VALUES FOR THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER – Respect and Equality
Best Attendance Article 28—every child has the
right to an Education.
Whole School Attendance
97.1% Well done!
Urgent Please be aware
that in the last 2
months we have
noticed a growing
number of children saying
unkind things to their peers.
Staff are
dealing with incidents on a
regular basis. On
investigation it appears they
are copying what is said on
games such a Roblox or
Fortnite. We are having to
call in parents to discuss
their child’s usage of the In-
ternet, which I am sure some
of you find intrusive, but as it
is now affecting children in
school we are asking you to
be very vigilant as to what
your child is watching on the
Internet. Many programs are
not suitable for primary
school aged children.
Additionally, it appears some
children are on phones,
computers, etc. for hours on
end; this is not healthy for
them. Thank you for your
support.
Garden Votes
A huge thank you to our families and friends
who voted for us on the Aviva Community Fund
Website. We received 4058 votes. We are still
waiting to hear the results and will let you know
the outcome. We will keep our fingers crossed
that we receive funds to restore our garden
back to this.
Hair Accessories
Please keep hair accessories to a
minimum. As lovely as the girls look,
large bows, cat ear hairbands and large
flowers are really not suitable for
school. Thank you for you cooperation.
The Sanctuary Group part of new Initiative ‘Harrow Nature Heroes’ The Sanctuary group went to Chandos Park to help support the Park’s community group who are working
on making the park more enjoyable and accessible to families in the area. They were invited to plant some
daffodils and thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the opportunity to learn some interesting facts
about nature and habitats. They are now a part of a new initiative called ‘Harrow Nature Heroes ‘ which
has been developed to help involve the community in supporting conservation in Harrow. A good job by
Thusha (5A), Flavia (4A) , Hishma (4H) , Umar (4V) , Keyaan (4V) , Harun (4V) and Abdul (3C). Well done
for getting your hands dirty!! We all look forward to seeing some beautiful daffodils in the spring at
Chandos Park and our next adventure as Nature Heroes!!
PTFA ODD SOCKS MUFTI DAY
Another fantastic day organised by the
PTFA. We raised £270.78.
Thank you for your kind
donations.

We are really pleased with the positive responses and comments from the parents; thank you.
Here are some Parental Comments from the questionnaire;
• Very happy with the focus on wellbeing • I am really pleased with the school, I think it is perfect. • Stag Lane APP is excellent. • The newsletter is very informative. • Would like homework which is more for the child’s level (5). • Regular messages from teachers about my child (2) • Stag Lane APP is slow • Litter from crisps packets on the playground Homework remains an area parents feel needs development. This seems to be a common issue with most schools and hard to address as some parents feel schools give too much homework, whilst others feel it is too easy. We will discuss this with the staff to plan for the future.

Last Day of Term - School finishes at 2pm ………………………………………………………………………………….
Clubs We are currently organising our clubs for next term and a letter will be sent out soon about the individual clubs. Please note the following; • We are no longer offering the Tuesday after school dance club
next term because there was little take up this term. • We would like to continue with Coding Club which we believe is
important for our pupils in this technological world. We are dis-appointed with the low uptake and may not be able to run it again next term unless we have 20 children in the club. We are now of-fering payment through ParentPay as some parents had difficulty paying the Coding Club. This is an enjoyable club with many long term benefits so we hope there will be a greater take up.
• We have 2 spaces in Romanian Club (Yr3 and 4) • All other clubs will be running as usual.
