Process of casting a staircase Step1: Calculation

• The height of the one floor to the another is calculated. This number is the total rise to the stairs.

• Measure the horizontal distance the staircase will span.

• Measure the width of each step from left to right in the area where the staircase will go.

Step 2 : The bars extending from the slab are bent to an accurate angle and scented with the grids of flight.

Step3 : Building the plywood frame

• It is made up of steel panels in grid form (15 X 15 cm).

• The side forms are cut acc. To the tread and riser calculation.

• They must be securely adhered to the building's foundation.

Step4: Mixing the concrete

• It can be done using Portland Cement mixer or simply

by hand.

Step5: Pouring the Concrete

• Start from the bottom and pour one step at a time.

• Once you pour it, it should be spread evenly.

• Use a spade or a rod to remove trapped air bubbles.

• Step6: Add the Finishing Touches

• A screed board is a piece of lumber somewhat longer than the width of the staircase that you'll gently work front to back and side to side to get the excess concrete off the treads.

• Size:2 by 4

After one week, frame is removed and curing is done to gain strength.

Points to consider :

• For residential building : Tread =250mm,

Riser=160mm

• For public building : Tread=300mm,

Riser=150mm

• For industrial building :

Tread=not less than 250mm,250mm to 300mm,

Riser=not less than 150mm,150mm to 190mm

Report :-

• Day1 : preparation of the frame of the staircase(approx 1-2 hours)

Day 2 : Concreting is done after the frame is ready and set(approx 3 hours)

Day 3 : left undisturbed to settle and dry

Day 4 : the frame is removed and curing is done

For coming next few days(approx 4-5 days)curing is being done to gain strength and not to dry and crack.
