GOVERNOR’S COLUMN Greetings!

Another month has gone, and everybody’s busy with work and

activities. Just remember that the Moose Lodge is along the way...stop in

for a bite to eat, meet your friends or family, or attend a special event.

Even better is to be involved in Moose happenings. There’s

always a need for volunteer hands; weekly or occasionally, every hour is

very appreciated.

An even greater commitment would be serving as a Lodge

Officer. We can always use more input and new faces. Please talk to the

office or a Lodge Officer for more detailed information.

Recruiting members comes with rewards for the sponsor too.

For every two new applications you sponsor, your name goes in a drawing

for Moose bucks or a year’s free dues! All you had to do was share your

advantages of being a Moose Member!

The annual Spring Conference in Mobridge, SD is coming up

February 23-26th. This is always a fun time. All are welcome!

Here at your home Lodge...have you read through the Calendar

page and marked all the events you’ll come to? Did you see the Special

Valentine’s Dinner, the annual Indoor Golf Tourney, the Rock & Roll

Show by Badlands Express, and the MSU Pancake Breakfast? And please

remember to support the WOTM and LOOM monthly breakfasts, the

weekly Thursday Nite Suppers, Friday Nite Burger Bash, Family Pizza

Nite every other Wednesday, and the full menu on Saturday nights.

Pool, Darts, dancing-polka and Square Dance, karaoke nights, There’s

always something happening here at the Moose!

We have a good lodge and it is my pleasure to be working with

Mike Stenvold and Sherry Trett. I thank them for willingly taking on tasks

for the good of the order. (They sure would appreciate some helping

hands!)

Fraternally Yours,

Governor Richard Burgard

WOMEN OF THE MOOSE

Where does the time go? It seems like yesterday we were talking

about the Holidays. Now we’re talking about spring being just around

the corner.

The Women of the Moose monthly breakfast will be on February 5th,

2017 – 9 a. m. – 1 p. m. French toast, Sausage, Orange Juice, and Cof-

fee for $6.00. Hope to see everyone there!!

Our Chapter year comes to an end on April 30th, 2017 and our mem-

bership numbers are down. To try and boost these numbers we cut the

application fee for February only. During this time only it will cost

$30.00 to join the Women of the Moose. Moose International is offer-

ing free dues to all people currently serving in all branches of military

service, Policeman, Fireman, Volunteer Fireman, and EMS First Re-

sponders. If you know of any local heroes who fit this description,

don’t be afraid to ask them to join us.

If you have received a notice to renew your Women of the Moose

Dues, you have several options for paying them. You can mail your

$30.00 check to International Headquarters in the provided envelope;

pay them online as instructed in your renewal notice; or, you can drop

them in the black box marked “Women of the Moose” in the Cloak

Room at the Moose Lodge.

We will be holding Nominating Committee Meetings after our regular

meetings on Tuesday, February 14, February 28th to elect officers for

Senior Regent, Junior Regent, Recorder, and Secretary/Treasurer for

our next chapter year, which begins May 1, 2017, so if you or some-

one you know is interested in filling one of these positions you can

contact Senior Regent Lottie Griffin at 240-0205 or fill out one of the

sheets that are on the Women of the Moose bulletin board.

February is National Heart Health Month and also Valentine’s month.

Take care of your HEART by getting out and WALK and give some-

one you LOVE a HUG!!

Fraternally yours,

Women of the Moose Officers

FLOOD CONTROL NEWS

The only thing we can report on at this time is the going is slow! On

January 4th an inventory of our property was conducted by CDM

Smith defining what is real property versus movable property. As of

this writing we are still waiting for the appraisal to take place. The

good news is that they assured us that we will stay open here until

another facility is ready to occupy. We believe this will not occur

until mid 2018. When we have more concrete information a special

meeting will be held for the general membership sometime in March.

We are a very strong Lodge that is a vital part of the Minot communi-

ty and will continue long into the future. Rest assured that your Board

is working hard to plan for the well-being of the Lodge.
