Inspiring Lifelong Learning

From the Principal Swimming

By now, and most of you know the outcome of the swimming carnival last Friday. One point is all it took for Winter House to take out the flag! Thank you to those who helped out with the many jobs such as keeping score, and handing out tokens to the place-getters and a dozen other things. A huge thank you to the terrific instructors who ran the events on the day and the daily lessons over the two weeks. The schedule allowed for the smooth running of each event. Students were ready and prepared. Now that our swimming program is over, and we have been able to get back into a regular routine! Early Years Testing

Students in years Prep to Two have been involved in the annual English Online Interview. This provides important information about each student so that teachers can plan programs that cater for individual needs of students. Teacher Learning

Mrs Sheedy is at a Literacy PD today, continuing to improve her professional development and skills so that students continue to receive high quality literacy teaching. Yesterday I attended the regional principal forum and was able to speak to our regional director about the unique challenges of small schools. This is a first and a very ex-citing opportunity for our small schools to highlight the special nature and importance of small schools.

Purple day

On Friday the 16th of March it will be Purple Day again! The Junior School Council have decided to participate again this year. We will raise money for ‘The Gift’ who supports local people and families affected by cancer. We will have gold coin donation for people to dress in purple. On Wednesday 14th of March if you bring in a white T-shirt we will be tie-dying them purple for Friday. If your child wants to participate – a white ‘named’ t-shirt needs to be brought to school on the day.

This week I am going to share my persuasive

letter. I hope you like it.

Dear Miss Owen

I strongly believe kids should be able to build

stationary forts on their tables.

Firstly, I think kids like to make stationary structures.

And forts are cool, I think they should be allowed to

be built because they don’t take much more space

than a work book.

Secondly, I believe that forts should only be allowed

to be built before 9:10am. They don’t take long to

build and they don’t make a mess.

Finally, I surveyed 19 people and 7 people said no

and 12 people said yes. Most people said yes

because everything is right in front of you.

This is why I think we should be allowed to build

stationary forts – they are fun to build, don’t take

long and most people voted yes.

(Ms Owen is in the process of responding!)
