    Starbucks opensfirst store in

    Seattles Pike Place

    Market .

    1982-1987Howard Schultz joins Starbucks as director of retail operations

    and marketing.Howard convinces the founders of Starbucks to

    test the coffeehouse concept in downtown Seattle, where the

    first . Starbucks Caff Latte is served. Starbucks opens first

    stores outside of Seattle area in Chicago and Vancouver, B.C.

    1991 -1999

    Becomes the first privately owned U.S. company to offer astock option program that includes part-time employees.

    substitutes, thus potentially attracting new customers as well as increasing the frequency of visits

    from current customers who may not need caffeine during that particular time in the day.

    CateringStarbucks can expand their service to office or home delivery when the purchase size reaches a

    reasonable minimum.

    Increase International Locations

    Starbucks should continue to open new locations worldwide

    Product Extension and SpecializationStarbucks could try to extend its menu selection to include drinks related to particular cultures

    Increase Selection for Childrens DrinksStarbucks should increase its menu items for children. It currently offers hot chocolate and apple

    cider for children, but it could offer a wider range of products, such as milk shakes or juice, as wellas more bakery items that satisfy childrens taste preferences

    Market Extension of Starbucks MerchandiseIncreasing the Starbucks merchandise line to include more branded items, such as baseball hats,

    canvas tote bags, umbrellas, aprons (and other kitchen accessories), not only increases sales but
