STAROOT VACANCIES

VOSLOORUS YOUTH FILLS YOUR HEAD’Z WITH NOTES THIS SEASON

Tired of waiting around for jobs and better opportunities? Why not take advice from these young, energetic, inspired and self-driven teenagers. Coming from a much simillar back-ground, the members of the group Noteheadz are pretty sure of what they are doing , judging from the ‘sound’ of it. The Group from Mailula Park in Vosloorus is made of four members who bring their diversity, culture and different genres into the group. Com-bining all three to create one unique sound never been herd before, they are marking a new and permanent trade-mark for themselves.

Talk about diversity, Noteheadz didn’t want to restrict any one they worked with who wanted to introduce their different style to the public. The group came into existence last year when three friends Ntate Rapetsoa (house music Dj); Mohau and Thamba ‘Aka’ Lakai (a poet and guitarist) registered a production company in July. They have since added one more member namely Willfred Kekana who does their co-ordination behind the censes and have also worked with two groups which are Kom kyk (a group that mixes kwaito with hip-hop) and another called J.M.L (two guys who compose mainly deep house music).

The group combines creative thinking and uses raw material like: instruments to create fresh sound adding a little bit of the oldies e.g. The likes of Bra Huge Masilela’s hits, mixing it all up to make a new young and hip feel but also not for-getting the laid back listeners, for them, creating a more relaxed expression of feeling and thoughts. The group has since released two singles-“HOLD YOU DOWN” and “LADY AFRICA , that are now being played in community and well known commertial radio stations , to name a few- Kasi Fm station in Vosloorus, Lesedi Fm, Metro Fm and Y Fm. The two tracks have received good response

from the public. Now continuing from the last track the group is back with two more and recording their very first video to go along with one of the tracks to give their work more’ exposure’ so they say.All the hard work seems to be pay-ing of as the group might be expecting their big break too soon because of a deal Ntate managed to secure with an international house music artist named Mudy mn. Ntate met the artist via a social network, and promises to remix their original songs into hits. These young stars mean business as they are ahead of the game and already giving back to the community by mentoring a few who need their expertise. The group is currently networking and mingling, attending free gigs for exposure and are focusing in building their brand, in the hope of recognition

Appealing to all sponsors who hardly look locally but would rather go out of town for talent, maybe its high time someone looked at Vosloorus as the new Soweto or Alex where talent is normally sourced out.

These guys are a true mirror of what you should be doing if you are just sit-ting there waiting for opportunities to come to you. We often moan and groan half the time about what the govern-ment isn’t doing, but what are you doing to better your life or the situation we as youth are currently faced with, in South Africa? Ever heard of the ‘cliché’ saying that “be the change that you want to see in others”...as much as it might annoy you but it is true! So you decide, either you start to make things happen or you watch these guys make it happen for you!!! By: Khanyisile Buthelezi
