Financial aid is available.Now more than ever, don’t let a lack of money get in the way of your college education. Financial aid is available year-round to help cover college costs like tuition, books, supplies and sometimes even rent. There are many different types of financial aid such as grants and scholarships (which you don’t have to pay back), and loans. The first step is to apply - even if you aren’t sure you’ll qualify.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available every year on October 1. For undocumented, Dream Act-eligible students, the California Dream Act Application (CADAA) is your first step to getting financial aid. There is no need to fill out both the FAFSA and CADAA applications.

Apply as soon as you can, and before the March 2 Cal Grant deadline, to get the most financial aid possible. And, don’t forget, you must complete the FAFSA or CADAA annually in order to receive your aid each year.

Transfer opportunities.During these uncertain times, the Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) program provides a smart and affordable transfer path. If your plans include transferring to a four-year college or university, ADT can help get you to your dream future. These special associate degrees provide a quality education and a clear pathway to a guaranteed saved spot at a CSU, participating Historically Black Colleges or Universities (HBCU), Western Governors University (a fully online university) or participating independent, non-profit colleges and universities in California (member institutions of AICCU).

In most cases, if you complete 60 semester units (90 quarter units) of general education at a community college and maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher (2.5 GPA or higher for HBCUs), you can transfer to a guaranteed saved spot at a participating four-year university with junior standing. These general education classes are the same lower division courses available at a public or private college or university but are much more affordable.
