Iowa’s SOR project is consistent with the Iowa Department of Public Health’s “recovery-oriented system of care” model that integrates substance use disorder prevention, treatment, and recovery support services. Iowa’s SOR project partners with substance use disorder treatment programs across the state. The SOR staff can be reached at: Recovery Support Services An integral component of Iowa’s SOR Project are Recovery Support Services. Recovery Support Services help people enter into and navigate systems of care, remove barriers to recovery, stay engaged in the recovery process, and live full lives in communities of their choice. Recovery Support Services in Iowa’s SOR Project include services such as Contingency Management, Dental Services, MAT Medication, Recovery Peer Coaching, Education, Transportation and Wellness. Talk with your Care Coordinator or a member of the SOR Team about options for supportive services like these.

What Can Iowa’s SOR Project Do For You? Iowa’s SOR project aims to address the opioid crisis by increasing access to medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for the treatment of opioid use disorder (OUD), reducing unmet treatment needs, and reducing opioid overdose related deaths through the provision of prevention, treatment and recovery activities for opioid use disorder. This program also supports evidence-based prevention, treatment and recovery support services to address stimulant misuse and use disorders, including cocaine and methamphetamine.

Iowa’s SOR project allows us to offer you personalized care, including access to the three FDA-approved medications for the treatment of opioid use disorder: methadoneoral buprenorphineinjectable naltrexone or buprenorphine.

The Enrollment Process – Screenings We are so happy you have decided to participate in Iowa’s SOR Project. The process for enrollment starts with a meeting conducted prior to admission in order to determine your eligibility for SOR participation, as well as your needs and requests for specific SOR covered services.

Evaluation Our team will conduct interviews with you at the time of admission, six months after you enroll in the SOR project and when you discharge from the program. Discharge from the program does not mean discharge from agency services. The information gathered in the interviews will help us better meet the needs of our clients. When you complete the six month follow up interview there is a non-cash incentive as compensation for your completion of the interviews.

Linkage to Care: After your interview is done, we will discuss your goals with you and help you achieve those goals throughout your participation in the project.Depending on your goal, we can link you to: substance use disorder treatment brief treatment for substance use concerns recovery support services dental services peer support HIV and viral hepatitis testing MAT medication primary care physicians.The SOR staff member who enrolled you will help see you through the process of reaching your goals.
