W STATE TEAM HEAD COACH POSITION DESCRIPTION Employer Netball WA Reports to West Coast Fever Assistant Coach and High Performance Coach Department West Coast Fever and High Performance Location Based in Perth – State Netball Centre, Wembley Sports Park Position Overview Netball WA is seeking an experienced, dynamic and respected Head Coach to lead the Netball WA Underage State teams into an exciting era for Netball in Western Australia. Reporting to the West Coast Fever and High Performance Department the State Team Head Coach will be responsible for the selection, preparation and performance of the State Squad and Team for the National Netball Championships. The State team Head Coach is employed to work inclusively and collaboratively with relevant internal departments as well as external contractors, West Australian Netball League Coaches and volunteers to ensure the successful achievements of this position’s objectives. Core Responsibilities Accountabilities Overview of Tasks Development & Planning Promote the strategic vision and purposes of Netball WA within the netball and greater Western Australian Communities Lead and build a culture of sustained success throughout the State Team program environment to ensure the team and wider support staff are maximising performance outcomes and achieving agreed values and behaviours Achieve and maintain a top 4 finish at the National Netball Championships Deliver a High Performance Training Environment Provide on-court leadership, guidance and coaching of the Netball WA State Team that will participate in the National Netball Championships Develop and implement a training program in line with High Performance Coaching Strategies to prepare the State Team for the National Netball Championships Meet weekly with State Team Assistant Coach In consultation with the State Team Assistant and/or Apprentice Coach, establish guidelines and responsibilities that will allow the Assistant /Apprentice Coach to maximise their development opportunities. Provide regular Feedback to the Assistant Coach / Apprentice Coach regarding their coaching skills Liaise and communicate with the Convenor of Selectors and West Coast Fever Assistant Coach and High Performance Coach regarding alterations to the squad from team selections through to the National Netball Championships Regularly meet with the West Coast Fever Assistant and High Performance Coach to review training performance inclusive of video and drill creation and to advise of any changes to programming/scheduling of the State Team Program Conduct Individual Athlete Performance Plan (IAPP) – On Court Communicate with the State Team Physiotherapist and Netball WA with regards to athlete injuries.

STATE TEAM HEAD COACH POSITION DESCRIPTION    

 

 

•   Collaborate with the relevant Netball WA High Performance Analyst and sports science personnel regarding relevant components of the State Team Program

•   Liaise with the High Performance Department and Team Manager regarding preparation program requirements including venue bookings, equipment, umpires, guest speakers and professional development, player liaison and match practice

•   Liaise with the Team Manager regarding program requirements during the National Netball Championships including room allocation, daily schedule, venue booking equipment, eating arrangements and player liaison.

Administration •   Provide a monthly training program to the West Coast Fever Assistant Coach and High Performance Coach on the 1st of each month during the State Team Program (template to be provided)

•   Ensure all Integrity Requirements are completed by the due date •   Seek approval in writing from the Netball WA Convenyor of Selectors and

West Coast Fever Assistant Coach and High Performance Coach regarding the invitation of additional athletes to a training session/s

•   Adhere to all Netball WA policies and procedures regarding the State Team Program

•   Submit reports as requested by Netball WA and by the due date •   Provide written feedback for athlete Individual Athlete Performance Plan

Key competencies Essential Criteria •   Current Netball WA registration •   Current NCAS Advanced Coaching Accreditation or working toward •   Suitability in terms of behaviour, ethics and attitude to represent the State •   Strong and effective leadership skills •   Outstanding organisational skills, excellent communication and interpersonal

skills •   Experience coaching at a representative level (West Australian Netball

League, Develop a Diamond Regional Academy, Regional Cadet Cup, Association Championships)

•   Ability to meet duties, attendance and report requirements •   Good appreciation and understanding of the selection of age group

netballers and National Netball Championship expectations •   Good understanding of athlete development including all aspects such as

physical, social and emotional •   Ability to work independently and operate effectively as a member of both

small and broader teams •   Commitment to advocacy of Netball WA •   Commitment to promoting Netball WA’s philosophies and Athlete and team

culture •   Current and valid Working with Children Check •   A current “C” class WA driver’s license

Appointment Term 1 year term

Hours of Work The nature of the role will require out of work hours and weekend work inclusive of interstate travel as required.

Remuneration State Team Head Coaches shall be provided honorarium of $2,000.00 per annum on completion of the program (including the Program Review).
