Greetings and Happy New Year to our Suez family and friends. Not easy to tell a new year has arrived except for remembering 2021 when writ-ing the date down. I expect some visible changes, like the weather for instance, are easy to note. We had a very mild winter through the end of the year but I have my “long handle” underwear and my heavy coat ready now. I don’t enjoy cold weather like many of you do. It’s probably due to not having much natural insu-lation so I add layers to keep warm. Hard to believe but I worked in Alaska for over 13 years. I found ways of keeping warm mainly by staying inside when I could!
Changes like the weather happen and the changes at Suez are near. The new Divan
was elected at the December meeting. They will be installed at our Stated Meeting January 18, 2021. It would be great if you can attend so please take note of the date and plan to be with us. I would like to thank each of the 2020 Divan for their help and pledge my continued support as they lead Suez this new year.
I want to take this oppor-tunity to say how much I have enjoyed the honor and privilege to serve on the Divan these past 5 years. The fellow-ship, travel, pranks, meetings, meals, everything we shared with each other has been a true blessing. First Lady Sheila and I both cannot express how deeply we appreciate each of you and your support. I also want to thank the Past Poten-tates who guided me with their
wisdom and encouragement. A person cannot do this job by himself and there was al-ways comfort in knowing I was never alone. I’ve heard many of the Past Potentates say how quickly the time went by and it doesn’t seem that long ago I took the stage as the OG. 2020 did drag a little due to COVID, which is often the case when you are simply waiting as we all did. Now with the new medi-cines becoming available and the hope of things returning to normal maybe 2021 will be a busier year.
Hope to see you on the 18th so until then Happy New Year and may God Bless us all.
Fraternally Yours,Gaylin E KinseyPotentate 2020Suez Shriners

Public Relations
Happy 2021 to all. This year will be super busy for JB. I am working with the Imperial Fun & Fellowship Committee and we are wrapping up with judging entries submitted from Temples and Clubs on current/past activities, ideas for future activities and what they are doing since many meetings and gatherings have been cancelled. Super excit-ing to see all these ideas. I am also hard at work with Imperial Session 2021. I am the Public Relations Chair for the next session, so please search Imperial Session 2021 on Facebook and Instagram and get on their website at Im-perialSession.com. All Nobles and their ladies are encour-aged to attend each Imperial Session and since our Imperial Potentate Jim Smith and his Lady Alice (Ben Hur – Austin) are in Texas, they are looking for lots of support. There will be Cornhole Tournament, lots of fun, activities and don’t tell anyone but we have booked
my long-time friends, The Bellamy Brothers, as the en-tertainment. Shhh. I have been hearing some grumbling about wanting more LOCAL/SUEZ content in the Scribblings. I wish I could include more. We haven’t done much in the past few months. Plus, I can’t include your pictures and stories if I don’t have them. Please assign someone in your club or unit to send pictures and stories to me. You can email them to [email protected] or send them via Text or Facebook Messenger. If we don’t have enough content for the Scribblings, I have to fill it up with whatever I can find
online. Also, you will see the Scribblings less in 2021 than last year. You will have this issue, the last issue for Illus-trious Sir Gaylin Kinsey, then you will see one in February, the first issue after installation for Potentate-Elect Jimmy Haines. Don’t expect another issue until May then again in September and one Novem-ber. Stay safe and send me pictures and stories, even if you just say that you met and had 15 people show up…I want to know.
God Bless.

As of January 1, 2021, Shriners Hospitals for Children – Hous-ton sails over to Galveston and becomes Shriners Children’s Texas. That is their new name. Both hospitals have combined to offer the same great care for kids, but now in one location.

Occupational Therapy is always more fun with a friend! Juan and Adrian got carried away playing games, all while they worked on their truck control for sitting and standing balance. Juan practiced on a dynamic surface, while Adrian responded well to a balance ball, for a little bit of sensory input. They both have been progressing well during their inpatient stay. Keep it up boys!
A Big THANK YOU to Shriners Chil-dren’s Texas (Galveston/Houston) Patient Ambassador Grey and his family who re-cently dropped off a check for the Hospital from a Scentsy fundraiser that they did.

The Nolan County Shrine Club met first in December since the 1st Tues-day of the Month fell on December 1st. We are looking forward to the end of the year, heading down to San Angelo for Suez Elections and hopefully a much better 2021. Thanks to all who came out. Sweetwater Christmas Parade will be on December 7th at 6pm and we are looking at heading to be in the Christ-mas Parade in Winters at 6:30pm on December 12th.

Thank you for you service to the craft and please everyone keep Sue especially in your prayers.
In 2021 we are looking at reviving the Suez Golf Unit. I would really like to create a yearly competition with Nobles for the Pride of West Texas Shrinedom.
If interested in being a Member of the Golf Team and get a list of scheduled play dates and locations please contact:

Abilene Shrine Club Due to the increase in all
that is going on, the Abilene Shrine Club did not meet in December. We got to the end of December and noticed that even more people are coming down with Covid so we de-cided to not meet in January, either. We did set up a Virtual Social on the computer for those that could log in. We had a good time catching up and seeing our friends. We wish all of you a safe and healthy time and we pray for a much better and safer 2021. Join us on the 1st Monday of every Month in Abilene. We also have our own Facebook page at www.face-book.com/abileneshrineclub
Shriners International has temples in several countries, but what some nobles may not realize is that we have Shrine Clubs located around the world. In 2009, several Freemasons from New South Wales, Australia, had an inter-est in becoming Shriners. They ultimately became members of Aahmes Shriners in Liver-more, California, and started the Sydney Shrine Club (since disbanded). In 2010, a group of Freemasons from Melbourne visited them, took an interest and subsequently became Shriners, forming the Mel-bourne Shrine Club (MSC). Despite the challenges faced by the pandemic, the club is still thriving today with 84 members and big plans for the future.
Noble Peter Atkin, Secre-tary, shared the club’s five-year strategy to increase member-ship, form regional clubs and improve member retention.
One goal is to actively pro-mote Shrine tenets through participation in community events like festivals, parades, and horticultural and agri-cultural shows. They are de-veloping a program to train select nobles on how to best represent the club at events, and are equipping them with displays and promotional materials. The MSC will also host “open nights” to demys-tify Masons and Shriners by explaining them in easy-to-understand terminology.
As for fun and fellowship, the club also has that taken care of for 2021, including a meeting and fezzing ceremony that will be held 61 meters un-derground in a real gold mine! Other events on the calendar are a Lost Raiders Tomb paint-ball competition, a Filipino Aliwan Festival celebration and a Raid party. The club also intends to form several units including a pipe band, clown
unit and motorcycle squad. We appreciate the determi-
nation and enthusiasm of the Melbourne Shrine Club and are proud to have them as part of our Shriners family.

El Salvador Shrine Club of Abou Saad Shriner local nobles have created a well oiled machine worked by many Nobles all hours of the day to accomplish incredible things when a children with burns injuries need to be transported to Galveston. From the Administration at the Hospital, paper work for passports and visas at the US Embassy, Transportation, Public Relations, Air Port and Air Travel Logistics, Finding the money to cover the Air Ambulance. Every aspect of rescuing children of El Salvador is covered by one sometimes two different Nobles. Mary Joco of Galveston Shriners Hospital loves working with the Nobles of El Salvador be-cause she is informed of every step and knows play by play what is happening making her logistics work in Galveston so much easier. CEO and Chairman of the Board of Shriners Hospitals, Imperial Sir Jerry Gantt, Chairman of Board of the Board of Galveston Hospital, Noble Gary Martin and Mary were at the Hospital to re-ceive the latest child we had to transport to Galveston
December 2020. El Salvador News Media even interviewed Imperial Sir Jerry. What is even better is Imperial Sir Jerry himself accompanied by a Board of Trustee Member and another Noble from Imperial Headquarters come to visit El Salvador and see the Clinic and Children’s Hospital there. The young man is recovering now in Galveston, safe and sound in good hands. First time in 2017 when we saved a young girl everyone was lost on what to do and took time and patience to get her to Galveston, but we did. Since then I cannot tell you how proud I am of the Nobles of El Salvador for their emergency system to receive the children, plow through paperwork, find the funds and usually get a child from reception at hospital in San Salvador to Galveston in 24-36 hours. Viva El Salvador, Keep up the great work Nobles, we at Suez give you a Tip of the Fez

Despite the 2021 East-West Shrine Bowl being cancelled due to challenges presented by COVID-19, game organizers have still chosen to recognize players for their outstanding senior seasons. In conjunction with the National Football League, players will participate in virtual training sessions in preparation for the NFL Draft.
The student athletes will participate in virtual training and informational drills with current NFL coaches and members of the NFL Operations staff. Some 2021 all-stars will also participate in various virtual experiences with Shriners Hospitals for Children patients in recognition of the game’s nearly century-long commitment to supporting the health care system’s mission.
The organization looks forward to the successful return of the game in 2022.

In a medical emergency every second counts... especially when you are far away from adequate medical care.
In the event of a serious emergency, whether you are on the highway, on the job, on the football field, hunting, at the ranch, or at home you can depend on the dedicated pilots and flight crew at Shannon AirMed 1, the local AirMed Care Network provider, to be there. They are on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 356 days a year.
We have been providing this life saving service to rural communities since 1985. In recent years we have partnered with some of the leading air ambulance companies in the country and now provide service across 38 states, with 320 fixed wing and helicopter base locations across the county.
Give your family the peace of mind they deserve, become a AirMedCare Network member for as little as $65 a year, and have no out of pocket
costs should you need to be flown due to a medical emergency.
