STATEMENT OF ATTAINMENT IN ENTER AND WORK IN CONFINED SPACES

AgSkilled is a NSW Government initiative, with industry partners Cotton Australia and the GRDC, to provide the Cotton and Grains industries with vocational training to drive the profitability and productivity of both industries.

To be eligible for AgSkilled subsidised training you must be working in or seeking employment in the NSW cotton or grains industry. You must also meet the Smart and Skilled eligibility requirements.

COURSE OVERVIEW

This course is to train participants in the requirements of AS2865:2009 (Safe working in confined spaces) and covers all aspects of working safely in confined spaces and safety equipment used. This course will cover the Unit of Competence - RIIWHS202D Enter and work in confined spaces from RII09 training package.

This course is 2 days of training and the program is structured as follows:

Day 1 - Confined Space (includes Confined Space Awareness)

Day 2 - Confined Space (includes Confined Space Refresher)

Pre-reading material will be sent to participants prior to course.

Participants will cover areas such as ¡ What is a confined space and what makes it

a confined space ¡ Regulations and legislations ¡ Confined space hazards - atmospheric and

other ¡ Entry permits ¡ Risk assessments ¡ Hot work permits ¡ Entry and exit register ¡ Rescue procedures ¡ A practical component which encompasses

a rescue on a life size dummy

COURSE FEES$0 (GST free). Fully government-subsidised. You pay no course fees. There may be some course-related costs.

Participants will also learn

¡ Atmospheric monitoring and testing (air quality register)

¡ Ventilation (negative and positive)

¡ Purging of a confined space which contains flammable contaminates

¡ Harness, Tripod & Rope Rescue device use, limitations and effectiveness

¡ Isolation (lock-out and tag-out procedures)

¡ Apply basic first aid

¡ Apply basic fire fighting techniques

¡ Exit the confined space according to procedure

¡ Access cover is replaced

¡ Paperwork completed in accordance with regulatory and legislative requirements

¡ Ensuring their work area is clean and cleared from materials

¡ Tools and equipment cleaned, checked, maintained and stored appropriately

¡ Barriers and signs are removed
