0 WHAT layout will you be using for your Double Page Spread (This relates to the use of COLUMNS and GRIDS in planning your Double Page Spread) and WHY?

My first page of my double page spread will be a large image of the interviewer so that the audience has a clear image of who this article is based on. On the bottom of that page there will be the artist names in bold to inform the reader of the name behind the face. One the second page of my DPS it will be split into two columns for me to place the text in a clear and neat spot. I will also be using grids to ensure an organised layout. There will be a subheading above the columns to give a brief introduction to the article and above that will be the heading of the article. I decided to keep my layout simple as this DPS article is based on an interview therefore there is no need for it to be busy and overcrowded. Throughout planning this double page spreads I kept my target audience in mind as I wanted to sure that my DPS appeals to that age group.

0 WHAT principal components of a magazine layout will you be using in the construction of your Double Page Spread and WHY?

I will be following the codes and conventions in the construction of my DPS. I will have a headline on my second page to inform the reader of the article and grab their attention. My DPS will also have a sub-heading to give the reader a brie detailed summary about the article they are about to read before reading it. There will also be a by-line at the bottom of the page to state who created the article and give them there well deserved credit. At the start of the article there would be a drop-cap to give the DPS a professional look.

0 WHAT type of images, graphics (i.e. Boxes, borders and rules) will you be using to make your Double Page Spread appeal your target

The image will be of a man in his late 20s early 30s so it will straight away appeal to my target audience as that is the same age it is aimed at. I will be using a lot of graphics and effects for the text and image. I'm going to make the text of the artist name to have a drop shadow and add a 3d effect for it to stand out more. I am also going to add some effect t the image and change the colour around so it is not too bold. I will be using boxes to highlight the important information that will grab the attention of the audience and will be using borders to ensure that everything is lined up correctly and make sure that everything flows right and does not run off the page. I will be using rulers to make sure that my text and, boxes and images are all straight.

0 WHAT image/images will you be using for your Double Page Spread and WHY will it/they appeal to your potential target audience?

I will b using two images of a male in his late 20s/early 30s. These images will appeal to my target audience as they will see an image of someone around the same age as them and find it easier to relate to the context of the conversation. On the other hand if my target audience was aimed at youth they will not be able to relate as the image dose not fit in with the image they portray due to factors such as the props used and the setting and location the image was taken. These factors therefore make the image suitable for my target audience as its similar props, setting, location and mise en secen that you will see with my target audience.

0 WHAT do you want the image/images to tell your audience and WHY?My image tells my audience that this is a mature older man as he is dressed in the attire

that you find a man in his late 20s/early 30s will wear. He also looks like he is from a middle class background which some of my audience will therefore feel they are able to relate towards him.

0 WHAT story/stories will you be including in your Double Page Spread and WHY will it/they be related to the image/images

“he is back and more soulful then ever” is the sub heading for this article, it is an interview based article about a gospel singer that decided to come back to music after series of events in his life. The image is off the artist in the middle of a photo shot something that is commonly done with a magazine DPS interview. The image therefore relate to this DPS as its of artist and the DPS is based on the artist as well. The image is just enclosing the face behind the article, behind the ‘voice’.

0 WHAT effect does the REPRESENTATION as portrayed by the image/images used for your Double Page Spread have on your intended target AUDIENCE?

This image is of a photo shoot of the artist and could be said that it represents the music and fame aspect to the artist life. Therefore the effect that the representation as portrayed by the image used for my DPS has on my targeted audience is that this artist seems to be back in the fame light doing what he loves.

0 WHAT is the MODE OF ADDRESS of the major story on your Double Page Spread?

This is a formal interview with the artist Mark Matthew and the reporter. Mark will speak mainly in formal English but as it is a conversation based interview there may be certain parts of colloquialism. I believe that is a positive thing as it reassures the reader that although he is a celebrity he is only human and may make some members of the audience relate to him and what he says about why he left the music industry and why he came back. I believe that due to my target audience being around the same age the context of what he will be saying will be easy for some members of the audience to relate to.

0 WHAT colour scheme (shades, tints and colours) will you be using and WHY?The main colour used will be grey, white and black. I choose this colour as it was the same colours I

used for the content page. I also choose these colours as I did not want the page to come across as over powering as I decided to make it tone down.

Background - the background colours were based on the main image as that is the background. The image was a light shade of turquoise/ grey it which gave the DSP an element of elegance and a intimate touch creating pathos on the reader and not drawing the attention away from the actual article.

Image - the image will faded as it came towards the text, this automatically will turned the readers attention to the upcoming text.

Text - the text was also grey with a white stoke. This will be very effective as it will blend in with the image and their will be a balance throughout the page.

0 WHAT main story will be included in your Double Page Spread e.g. Interviews, commentary about events, artist gigs etc., and WHY?

This DPS is based on an exclusive interview with a gospel artist who is back on the scene. In the interview the topics that will be addressed will be stuff relating to his personal lie such as his new addition to his family, his reason for leaving and coming back o the music spot and exclusive information about upcoming tours, book release and gigs. It is the main cover line because it is a first and exclusive interview with this artist since he has come back to music leading people to be intrigued.

0 HOW will you be arranging the information on your Double Page Spread and WHYThe information will be arranged by a clear indication of when a question is being asked and the

answer but using different colors to avoid and confusing and to ensure everything remains clear. The questions will also be in bold to stand out and attract the readers attention. Lastly the information will be in two clear columns so that the page looks organized.

0 WHAT type of fonts and font sizes (style of lettering used) will you be using for your Double Page Spread and WHY?

In order to make sure that everything remains consistence throughout the magazine I made sure that the same front was used for some of the text.

For the artist name on the first page I decided to used a large, bold front in capital letters for an eye catchy effect. That will also have a drop shadow for it to appear like it is coming off the page.

The headline will be in a slightly smaller front then the artist name but larger then the article itself. This is because it is the first detailed introduction to the article and will normally be read by the audience before the read the actual article. This will also be in bold and have a drop shadow but not one as dark as the one used for the artist name.

Questions in the article will be one size larger then the answers and will have a stroke around the instead of being in bold. This will all create dynamic on the DPS as the text will not be in one front but several different fronts will different effects.

The answers will be in a size smaller then the questions but the front will be clear in order or the reader to be able to read what it says.

The front used will be similar to the front used on the content page in order for their to be a link. The front used will also be very clear and simple as the main aim is for my audience to be able to read the article. The sizes will vary regarding what the text is there for.
