    Okay

Urn, he even with, I'm, doing it with the, the father, like I, I couldn't keephitting him. Like, I uh, just couldn't do it. You know, it's, that sound, it'sjust horrific, like I just,

    I don't know, I couldn't imagine.

Like, like, it's not going to happen and we kept going back and forth aboutit. And finally he was like, you know what, fuck it, I'll, I'll take care ofthem, all three of them. And uh, he'd, he'd go, he was walking aroundwith these stockings urn, that he had, that we had run out of rope at onepoint.

    Stocking, as in lady's stockings?

Yeah, apparently he used those for the rope. So he was walking aroundwith a stocking uh, talking about he was going to just strangle them, allthree of the women. And uh, see we used to go into. I'm sitting in thedining room, the formal dinning room which is on the other side of thehouse and he leaves to go into the living room where the mother is. Andafter a couple of minutes, he comes back and then over to the dining roomwhere I am. But then he leaves again and to the other end of the house andmade it back and went back and forth like, you know, 4 or 5 times.

What was he doing, was he, was he?

It seemed like he was trying to like, psyche himself up for whatever, youknow, like.

    To strangle the women?

Yeah, to do what he thought he needed to do.

    Okay

Uh, and I'm sitting there and like uh, I'm like besides myself, I'm like, Idon't know what to do. Like I,

Where are you at this point?

Uh, I was sitting in the, the formal dining room.

And everyone else is upstairs except for mom and dad who's in thebasement and you're downstairs with mom and Steve?

That's correct. Urn, I had a, I had clear sh, a view of the stairway, the frontstairway that goes upstairs. Urn, then you start going around the comer uh,and you're in the kitchen.

    Yup.

Then you go through the kitchen, and then you're in the living room, where the mom was, and as far as, you know, the father was downstairs inthe basement. Urn, the 4th or 5th time that he had walked back into, to theroom that I was in, the dining room, uh, he left me and, and then he was inthere for, like, the room, like 15 minutes, like.

    Alone with the mom?

Alone with the mom yeah, and I'm assuming he's just, still trying topsyche himself up, and urn, at which time I hear this noise down in the

basement and, I certainly recognized it as the bilco door that led to theoutside.

Which is where the dad was?

Which is right where the dad was and I yelled, but at the same time Ijumped up urn, screaming to Steve that the father just took off. He justleft, and uh, was racing uh, towards the room that he was in, and uh, hewas then coming back towards me and as we were converging on thebasement door urn, I can see behind Steve that uh, the mother was uh,laying lifelessly on the floor uh, with her head on the loveseat urn, and herpants were down around her ankles.

So she's, she's inyour opinion, lifeless. Her pants are down by her ankles?

    That's correct,

Which they hadn't been at any time prior to this.

    Never no.

And did you check on her, did you ask him what he did?

No because my priority concern at that point was the father getting out thebasement door.

What made you think she was lifeless?

Urn, the color of her face was a deep, deep purple, from the neck up.Like, blue-ish, purple-ish, like pool of blood. Urn, being an EMT, I haveseen plenty of lifeless bodies and I recognized the color as being quitelifeless. Uh, her tongue was also sticking out of her mouth and her eyeswere very puffed up.

Her eyes were puffed up. So your EMTexperience tells you what, whatdid you think occurred?

Urn, I was fairly confident that, that Steve had fmally built up the, the uh,the nerve to, to strangle her.

So at this point you think she's strangled and dead, pants are down soyou?

So like, I make the assumption that he assault, had also, had raped her.

Okay, you didn't actually see him strangle or rape her, but that's youropinion of it?

    Right, that's my opinion.

She's definitely lifeless, in your opinion, dead at this time?

    Yes, that's true.

Okay, so now you both head towards the basement?

I uh, he stops at the basement door and barks at me to run down there andcheck, to make sure that he did in fact go out uh, which I did. I went downthere and uh, sure enough he had definitely uh, taken off, out the backbilco door.

So the father basically escaped the house at this point?

    Yeah, that's correct, yes.

    Did you chase him?

    No

    Go ahead

I went; I went back upstairs and told Steve that he's gone. We gotta getout of here right now, we have, we have to leave right this second.

So, on the upstairs, you mean, the first floor where mom was lyingalready?

    That's correct, yes.

    Motionless, lifeless?

    Yeah

    Okay

Yeah, we're, we gotta get out.

    You want out?

Yeah, we have to go now, like, there's no option.

    Okay

Urn, here it's only a matter of minutes before he gets to the neighbors orseconds even before he gets to the neighbors house and the police arecalled.

    Yeah

And Steve's taking all this time, you know, to, Idon't know, Idon't knowwhat is what he was thinking. He ends up taking the bag with the moneyin it, and you know, shoving it in my chest and telling me to go start thecar.

    Okay

And I'm like, where's the keys, where's the key, where's the keys. Andhe's like, Idon't know, over there somewhere and we're going back andforth, like, with our heads chopped off And in the middle of that he dartsinto the garage.

    Uh, uh

Urn, I turn around and keep looking for these keys, and urn, I turn backaround uh, and he's pouring a whole bunch of gasoline on the kitchenfloor, and down the front hallway which leads to the stairwell.

Now mom is in the living room at this point?

Yeah, which is like, where, like the kitchen floor is like, the living roomwhere the mom is, is sort of like a sunken living room.

Okay, so, kind of, it's connected?

    Yes

    In a way?

    Yes, that's correct.

Did he pour gasoline in there where the mom is?

Yeah he'd, I believed he did. I didn't see him pour gasoline on her, but uh,he uh, there was certainly gasoline there, because it definitely reeked.

    You could smell it?

Oh yeah, it smelled like, you know, you light a cigarette and the placewould blow apart.

Okay, well he goes up the stairs?

He then went up the stairs uh, with two bottles urn and.

    Did you follow him upstairs?

I, I did. I followed him up the stairs, cause I, I couldn't understand like, Iwas like, you can't seriously be, be contemplating, burning these, thesetwo girls alive.

I just like, that's unconscionable. Like,

    Yes

    It is unreal.

    It' bizarre.

This is, it's really unreal. It's just not what, you can't do that. It's, you justcan't. And um, I was a little relieved, well not relieved but, that he had notpoured it in the bedrooms but, he had poured it up the stairway, down thehallway, and into the master bedroom.

    How do you know that?

Uh, cause he was walking out of the master bedroom and you could seethe uh, the gasoline on the uh, carpet.

    Leading back to which bedroom?

The master bedroom, which is in the back.

    (Not audible)

I, he, he walked out of the master bedroom, walked past me, back to thestairs, I went to KK's room urn, there was no gasoline in there, she wasstill in her bed, I.

    She's still alive?

    Oh yeah, absolutely.

    Okay

    Her face is covered?

Uh, yes, the pillow case was kept over her face.

    Okay

But, but, up enough so that, so she, she could breath. Urn, then I closed thedoor and then I went down to the back towards the stairway, then past theoldest daughter's room. Uh, she too was sitting in her room urn, tied to herbed uh, like she was previously, and I closed that door and I wentdownstairs.

    Is she still alive?

    Absolutely.

Why did you close the doors?

I, I, I, I can't imagine, anyone being bur, burned alive. You know, so I, Ithought, I, I, I fucked up. You know I uh, I got myself in this horribleposition, but, you know they did every, they did, they did what they weresupposed to do. There was no reason for them to die. You know, theywere compliant the entire way, both you know, very bright young ladies.Uh, and even the mother shouldn't have died, she didn't, she went out ofher way to, to be, you know.

    Compliant?
