It’s based on the purpose, the mission – to be a force for good in the world. Now, what’s the vision? If they are wildly successful at their mission, what will the world look like? That may be the seed for the vision.

As Leaders you start the race…with the WHY in hand. Please write “Why” on the baton. You have to pass the baton to win the race. You can’t keep holding it. In your case that means sharing the why. Far, wide, and often. It may also mean getting out of the way so the other runners don’t fall over you. Please pass the baton to a manager Managers, you have to run the second leg of the race, please write “What” on the baton You have to accept the baton to win the race. You also have to pass it on…you have to LET it GO. That means not being a doer (even if that’s how you got your job). You must empower your workers. Please pass the baton to a Doer. Doers, you’re the anchor leg of the race, please write “How” on the baton. You have to get the manager to let go of the baton. They have to trust that you will finish the race. Everyone has to run their leg as well as they can while cheering on the other runners on the team
