Foreword Nippon Steel sheet piles are used for a wide range of construction projects, including port and harbor construction, river improvement, earth retaining and cofferdams. These piles are highly rated for their excellent quality and exceptional work efficiency. Nippon Steel, drawing on a wealth of rolling, fabrication and application technologies amassed over the years and further adding to the superb properties of its sheet piles, has recently developed various new products and construction methods in this field, which have also won for the company a high reputation. Among them are wide-flange steel sheet piles and weldable steel sheet piles, which are recent additions to the lineup, and the prefabricated sheet pile cell construction method, which makes pollution-free rapid execution possible in the fields of offshore civil works and waste disposal. Nippon Steel will continue its efforts to develop novel products that bring the properties of sheet piles into full play and to respond to more stringent and diversifying user needs in the future.

FeaturesA Wide Selection of Shapes and Types Sheet pile is available in a wide range of section moduli per meter of pile wall width, ranging from 500 to 8,700cm3. This allows selection of the most economical type of sheet pile to suit the design requirements and the intended construction method.

● U-type sheet pile is a service-proven type familiar to both designers and constructors. The U-type sheet pile is extensively used for permanent structures, temporary earth-retaining works and temporary cofferdams.● In addition to its rigid structure, its moment of inertia per pile is relatively large, thus allowing repetitive use.● It is available in section modulus per meter of pile wall width ranging from 529 to 3,820cm3

● This pile is made up of two U-type sheet piles welded together to form a box section. Appropriate combination of sheet piles makes available a variety of section moduli, and, depending upon design requirements, the most suitable and economical type of sheet pile can be selected.● Having a maximum section modulus of 8,700cm3 per meter of pile wall width, it is suited for use in large quay walls.● The length of box sheet piles combined can be reduced freely depending upon the design requirements, and this means great economy.

● Corner sheet pile is a newly developed type produced by rolling to replace the conventional T- shape corner sheet pile produced by welding. Thus it eliminates the need for welding and other fabrication processes, and is far lighter in weight.● For installation, a conventional pile driver can be used without modification.● The corner interlocking sections, principally of the Larsen type, have been improved in shape to prevent loosening, so this type excels in such properties as interlocking performance and durability in repetitive use.
