Steele Memorial Medical Center Environmental Services Department is dedicated to providing a clean and inviting environment. Patients, visitors and staff will feel safe and welcome while visiting our facility. We are dedicated to
the disinfection, and prevention of cross-contamination in all areas of the hospital. We research the latest technology
and best practices then implement them. Patient satisfaction is our number one goal.

Glo- Germ is a simulated translucent gel, it is placed on high touch areas and then tested with a black light after the area has been cleaned. This is an educational tool and staff are shown immediately the areas they missed. This ensures that proper cleaning is being done at all times.
Oct, Nov and Dec 2020 84.3% of the areas cleaned showed no sign of glo germ.
O’2 sensors were the largest high touch area missed. Jan , Feb and March 87.6% of the areas
cleaned showed no sign of glo germ. Apr, May, June 2021 80% of the areas cleaned
showed no signs of glo germ.
To reduce the amount of clean unused linen taken into patient rooms to less than 4% consistently.
After clean linen has entered patient room , it is considered contaminated and then has to be re washed.
Oct , Nov and Dec study was put on hold due to Covid
Jan , Feb and March 7% of patient floor soiled linen was clean and unused.
Apr, May, June 11% of patient floor soiled linen was clean and unused.
