Overview 'Stellar Phoenix Mail Recovery' is a powerful and easy to use tool designed to recover mails from

corrupt 'The Bat' (.TBB), 'IncrediMail' (.IMM), 'Pegasus Mail' (.PMM), and 'Thunderbird' files. It also

recovers mails and attachments that have been accidently deleted from 'The Bat', 'IncrediMail',

'Pegasus Mail', and 'Thunderbird' email clients.

It thoroughly scans 'The Bat' (.TBB), 'IncrediMail' (.IMM), 'Pegasus Mail' (.PMM), and 'Thunderbird'

files and recovers mails without modifying original data. Then it saves recovered mails as .EML files. In

addition, it gives option to save recovered 'Pegasus Mail' mails as .MBX files also.

User can select either a single or multiple files for recovery of mails and attachments using this software.

After scanning, software displays preview of mails and their content in a three pane structure.

Limitations:

• In 'Pegasus Mail', the software is not able to recover any attachment of 'sent mail'.

• In 'IncrediMail', user can preview attachments but cannot save them.

Installation Procedure

Before beginning installation, make sure that the computer meets minimum system requirements.

Minimum System Requirements

• Processor: Pentium Class

• Operating System: Windows 2000 / 2003 / XP / Vista / 7 / 8

• Memory: 1 GB RAM

• Hard Disk: 50 MB of Free Space

To install the software, follow the steps:

1. Double-click 'StellarPhoenixMailRecovery.exe'. A setup dialog box is displayed.

2. Click 'Next' to continue. 'License Agreement' dialog box is displayed.

3. Select 'I accept the Agreement' option. Click 'Next' to continue.

4. Specify the location where installation files are to be stored. Click 'Next' to continue.

5. Select the folder where files are to be stored. A default folder is suggested in 'Select Start Menu

Folder' box. Click 'Browse' to select a different location. Click 'Next'.

6. In the 'Select Additional Tasks' dialog box, choose the check box as per your choice. Click 'Next'.

7. Review entries. Click 'Back' if you want to make any changes. Click 'Install' to start installation.

The Installing screen shows the installation process.

8. After completion of installation process, 'Completing the Stellar Phoenix Mail Recovery Setup

Wizard' screen opens. Click 'Finish'.

Clear 'Launch Stellar Phoenix Mail Recovery' check box to stop automatic launch of software.

Launching the Software

To start 'Stellar Phoenix Mail Recovery'

Use any of the following methods:

• Click 'Start' -> 'Programs' -> 'Stellar Phoenix Mail Recovery' -> 'Stellar Phoenix Mail

Recovery'.

• Double click 'Shortcut' icon on the Desktop.

• Click 'Quick Launch' icon on the Task bar.

User Interface

'Stellar Phoenix Mail Recovery' software has a very easy to use 'Graphical User' Interface. The user

interface contains features required for complete recovery of mails from 'The Bat' (.TBB), 'IncrediMail'

(.IMM), 'Pegasus Mail' (.PMM), and 'Thunderbird' files.

After launching the program, you will see the main user interface as shown below:

The user interface contains menus and buttons that lets you access various features of the software with

ease.

How to Register?

The demo version of 'Stellar Phoenix Mail Recovery' can be downloaded from Stellar's web site. This

demo version is just for evaluation purpose and you can only see preview of mails, you can not save

them. Therefore, you must register the software to save your mails. After online purchase of the software,

you will receive 'User Name' and an 'Activation Code' that are required for registering the software.

To register demo version of the application, enter 'User Name' and 'Activation Code' in 'Activate Stellar

Phoenix Mail Recovery' dialog box and click 'OK'. A confirmation message is displayed if information

entered is valid.

'Activate Stellar Phoenix Mail Recovery' dialog box is displayed when you

• Select 'Activation' menu on the menu bar.

• Try to save mails after scanning in demo version.

How to Update?

'Stellar Phoenix Update Wizard' keeps your 'Stellar Phoenix' applications updated. Update option in the

application is capable of checking for latest updates. This will check for both latest minor and major

version available online. You can easily download minor version through the update wizard. However, the

major version, if available, has to be purchased. While updating the software, it’s recommended to close

all running programs.

To start 'Stellar Phoenix Update Wizard':

1. In the 'Stellar Phoenix Mail Recovery' main screen, click 'Update Wizard' icon on the tool

bar.

2. 'Stellar Phoenix Update Wizard' window pops up. Click 'Next' to proceed.

3. The wizard starts searching for latest updates and if it finds a new version of the software, it pops

up a window indicating the availability.

4. Click 'Next'. The software starts downloading update files from the server. When the process is

complete, the software will upgrade to the latest version.

Live Update may not happen due to following reasons:

• Internet connection is not available.

• There are no updates available on the update site.

If major version is available, you have to purchase the software to upgrade it.

Uninstall the Application

In two ways you can uninstall 'Stellar Phoenix Mail Recovery'.

1. Click 'Start' -> 'All Programs' -> 'Stellar Phoenix Mail Recovery' -> 'Uninstall Stellar Phoenix Mail Recovery'. Follow on screen instructions to completely remove the software, including

registry entries from your computer.

2. Click 'Start' -> 'Control Panel' -> 'Add Or remove Program'. Select 'Stellar Phoenix Mail

Recovery' entry from the displayed list and click 'Change/Remove'. Follow on screen

instructions to completely remove the software as well as registry entries from your computer.

Select Mail Client

You can select mail client of your preference in 'Select Mail Client' dialog box as shown below:

This dialog box is displayed when you

• Launch the software.

• Choose 'Select Mail Client' option in 'File' menu.

• Click 'Select Mail Client' icon on the tool bar.

Select File(s)

'Stellar Phoenix Mail Recovery' gives you options for selecting either a single or multiple 'The Bat'

(.TBB), 'IncrediMail' (.IMM), 'Pegasus Mail' (.PMM), and 'Thunderbird' files for recovery. Multiple files

should be in a single folder.

After you select the mail client of your preference, 'Select File/Folder' dialog box is displayed:

To Select a single 'The Bat' (.TBB), 'IncrediMail' (.IMM), 'Pegasus Mail' (.PMM), 'Thunderbird' file:

Click 'Select File' button and browse for the file you wish to repair.

In Windows XP

• The default location of 'Thunderbird' file is -> C:\Documents and

Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\.....

• The default location of 'The Bat' file is -> C:\Documents and

Settings\Administrator\Application Data\The Bat!\...

• The default location of 'Incredimail' file is -> C:\Documents and

Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data\IM\Identities...

• The default location of 'Pegasus Mail' file is -> C:\PMAIL\MAIL\ADMIN

In Windows 7

• The default location of 'Thunderbird' file is -> C:\Users\user's

name\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles...

• The default location of 'The Bat' file is -> C:\Users\user's name\AppData\Roaming\The

bat!

• The default location of 'Incredimail' file is -> C:\Users\user's

name\AppData\Local\IM\Identities...

• The default location of 'Pegasus Mail' file is -> C:\PMAIL\MAIL

To select multiple 'The Bat' (.TBB), 'IncrediMail' (.IMM), 'Pegasus Mail' (.PMM), 'Thunderbird' files:

Click 'Select Folder' button. 'Browse for Folder' dialog box opens:

Locate folder containing files to be repaired and click 'OK'. 'Select Files' dialog box opens with a list of

files found in the folder.

Find Files

You can search for 'The Bat' (.TBB), 'IncrediMail' (.IMM), 'Pegasus Mail' (.PMM), and 'Thunderbird'

files using 'Find File' Option in Select File/Folder dialog box. You can search for files in drives, folders

and sub folders. However, you can select only one drive at a time to search for files.

When you click 'Find File' button, a dialog box opens.

Click 'Look in' list box to select required drive and then press 'Start' button.

To search 'The Bat' (.TBB), 'IncrediMail' (.IMM), 'Pegasus Mail' (.PMM), and 'Thunderbird' files

in folder, click 'Search in Folder'. To search sub folders, check 'Search Subfolders' box.

After search is finished, list of all 'The Bat' (.TBB), 'IncrediMail' (.IMM), 'Pegasus Mail' (.PMM), and

'Thunderbird' files found in the selected drive is shown in a box under 'Search Result'.

As 'Thunderbird' files have no extension, Search Result may contain some irrelevant files.

Select a file you wish to repair from this list and click 'OK'.

You can click 'Clear List' button to clear result of search process and start a new search process.

Recover and Save Mails

Before recovering mails, 'Stellar Phoenix Mail Recovery' thoroughly scans 'The Bat' (.TBB),

'IncrediMail' (.IMM), 'Pegasus Mail' (.PMM), and 'Thunderbird' files. Scanning of file(s) can be started

after selecting them.

To start the scanning, click 'Start Recovery' button in

• Select File/Folder dialog box if you have selected a single file for recovery.

• Select Files dialog box if you have selected multiple files for recovery.

After scanning is completed successfully, the left pane displays list of files scanned in a tree like structure,

upper right pane displays mails and bottom right pane displays content of selected mail. By default, all the

checkboxes are checked.

To recover mails, you need to save them at a location of your preference.

To save mails, check the root check box in left view panes which will select all the mails in 'The Bat'

(.TBB), 'IncrediMail' (.IMM), 'Pegasus Mail' (.PMM), or 'Thunderbird' file(s) and either

• Click 'Save Mails' icon on the tool bar or

• Select 'Save Mails' option from 'File' menu on the menu bar.

A dialog box opens as shown here:

If the mail client chosen is 'Pegasus Mail', the dialog box contains two

options as shown below:

Choose your option.

To browse for the location for saving file (s) click button. Click 'OK'.

A box with a progress bar indicates saving of mails after recovery. When the process is complete,

following message appears:

Click 'OK' to close the box or click 'Open destination folder' to view saved files.

View and save Log Report

Log window displays beginning of the process, end of the process, name of the file etc. during running of

the process. With 'Stellar Phoenix Mail Recovery', you can view and save 'Log Report' to analyze

recovery process.

To view log details, click 'View Log' in 'View' menu on the menu bar. 'Log Report' window opens.

Click 'Save Log' button to save log report. Enter file name and choose destination in 'Save As' dialog box.

Click 'Clear Log' button to clear 'Log Report' window.

Click 'Close' button to close the 'Log Report' window.

Import Recovered Mails in Mail Clients To Import recovered mails in 'Thunderbird' email client:

• Navigate to the location that has the folder containing recovered mails. Open the folder.

• Launch 'Thunderbird' application. Click open the 'Inbox'.

• Click and drag mails from the folder and drop into 'Thunderbird' window.

To Import recovered mails in 'The Bat' email client:

1. If receiving protocol is set to IMAP4 in 'Account Properties' dialog box,

• Navigate to the location that has the folder containing recovered mails. Open the folder.

• Launch 'The Bat' application. Click open the 'Inbox'.

• Click and drag mails from the folder and drop into 'The Bat' window.

2. If receiving protocol is set to POP3 in 'Account Properties' dialog box,

You can either drag and drop mails into 'The Bat' window or you can import mails into 'The Bat' by

following steps given below:

• Go to 'Tools' menu, select 'Import Messages' >> 'From .MSG,/.EML files..'.

• In 'Import Messages' dialog box, browse for mails you wish to read in 'The Bat'.

To Import recovered mails in 'IncrediMail' email client:

• Navigate to the location that has the folder containing recovered mails. Open the folder.

• Launch 'IncrediMail' application. Click open the 'Inbox'.

• Click and drag mails from the folder and drop into 'IncrediMail' window.

To Import recovered mails in 'Pegasus Mail' email client:

To import recovered mails ( .MBX format ) in 'Pegasus Mail':

Save scanned mail as .MBX file and copy and paste it to the location - C:\ PMAIL \ MAIL \ ADMIN.

2. What is .MBX file type?

It is an electronic messaging index file created by 'Microsoft' to work with Windows' built-in e-mail

service, 'Microsoft Outlook Express'.

3. How can I select multiple .TBB/.IMM/.PMM/Thunderbird files for recovery?

No, there is no need for this.

6. How can I open my recovered mails in 'Thunderbird/'The Bat'/'IncrediMail'/'Pegasus Mail' e-

mail clients?

To open recovered mails in 'Thunderbird' and 'IncrediMail' e-mail client, you need to drag and

drop mails to applications. You can open recovered mails in 'The Bat' application, either by

importing them or by using 'drag and drop method depending upon the receiving protocol

configured in 'Account Properties' dialog box. To open .MBX mail in 'Pegasus Mail', simply paste

.MBX file to the location - C:\ PMAIL \ MAIL \ ADMIN.
