Put your egg inside a gallon freezer bag and zipper the bag shut. You will drop the egg from a height of 2 meters. You must design a safety device that will allow the egg to land uncracked.
How Can You Design a Solution to a Problem?

You have learned how forces a� ect moving objects. You have also learned how engineers solve problems. Now, put your knowledge to use! You will design a crash safety device for an egg transportation system.
Did your egg survive the fall? Did the test show some ways your safety device could be improved? Modify your design to improve its performance and then test it again. Use drawings and data to communicate your results.
Build a prototype of your safety device. Test your prototype.
Work with a partner to brainstorm ideas for your safety device. Decide what materials you will use. Make drawings to help you work out your design.
