Event ImpactThe proceeds from Stems: A Garden Soirée ensure that The Arts & Recreation Foundation of Overland Park can continue to support and develop Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead, the Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens, and city art installations.

Your investment of time and money allows us to sustain The Foundation and issue grants to our Friends of the Farmstead, Friends of the Arboretum, and Friends of Overland Park Arts Advisory Boards. These grants fund necessary programs and capital improve-ments in our cultural and recreational community gems.

In addition, Stems had multiple and far reaching avenues to highlight and showcase sponsors, donors, volunteers, and staff to our community.

Below is detailed information on the impact of Stems:

Stems: A Garden Soirée

took place on June 24, 2017 at

the beautiful Overland Park

Arboretum & Botanical

Gardens. It was an absolutely

gorgeous evening for the 10 Year

Celebration in Full Bloom. Record

numbers of guests attended the

event, and we exceeded our fund-

raising goals – resulting in the most

successful Stems to date.

Stems is the annual fundraiser for

The Arts & Recreation Foundation

of Overland Park so we can con-

tinue to grow and support Deanna

Rose Children’s Farmstead, the

Overland Park Arboretum & Botani-

cal Gardens, and city art installa-

tions. These cultural and recreation-

al amenities are part of the reason

why Overland Park is consistently

ranked as one of the best places to

live, work, and play in the country.

We are grateful to have had Debbie

and Wes Jenson as our Honorary

Chairs this year. Debbie and Wes

did an outstanding job serving in

this capacity and we thank you!

We are also extremely appreciative

of everyone who assisted in making

the evening so amazing. Thank you

to all of our wonderful volunteers,

vendors, sponsors, donors, and

staff. The collaboration and gener-

osity of our community is clearly a

huge factor in the ongoing success

of Stems: A Garden Soirée.

Once again, thank you to everyone

who made Stems: A Garden Soirée

2017 a magical evening.

4. Volunteers

It takes many volunteers donating their time and efforts each year to make Stems a success. We are very fortunate to have excellent volunteers who are in-vested in our community and enjoy collaborating with a diverse team. We are thankful for each volunteer and all the work they do for Stems.

Every year we identify one Volunteer of the Year. It is hard to pick one volunteer since there are so many hard working volunteers. This year Leo Handzlik was selected as the Volunteer of the Year for all of his dedication and leadership. We celebrated Leo and all the other volunteers at the Volunteer Appreciation Party on July 17th.
