Getting Started

This Quick Installation Guide provides the key steps to install and configure ipLDK-60 system. This guide is a light & integrated version of hardware and programming manuals. Among hundreds of features supported in ipLDK-60 systems, this guide provides the instructions to most frequently used features in small companies. This guide will help installers not only to understand ipLDK-60 system easily but also help to learn the capability to install and program very quickly.

This guide is composed of four parts as below.1) Overview

• This section is to give the basic introduction to ipLDK-60 system and the general description of the whole processes for installation and programming.

2) Step 1 : Hardware installation• This section describes hardware components, functions of each parts and overall hardware

installation procedures.3) Step 2 : Basic Feature Programming•This step provides the fundamental items necessary to program. Basic software operation & programming instructions will be given in this step.4) Step 3 : Advanced Feature Programming

• This gives the programming guides for advanced features. This is an optional part necessary to program with specific customer requirements.

Generally, Step 1 and 2 above cover most small customers’ typical requirements.For complicated programming to enable specific functions and features, the original manuals can be referred. In each section, the reference pages in manuals is provided. However, for beginners, it is recommended to fully understand this guide in advance.

This is the overall steps to install and administer ipLDK-60 system. It will be very helpful to get this overall installation procedures in advance.

ipLDK-60 hardware is composed of 3 categories. This part will give the overall list and brief description.The following figure shows the devices which connect to the ipLDK-60 system.

1-5) MBU, EMBU connection This step is necessary to install both BKSU and EKSU. BKSU and EKSU can be connected via champ cable which is provided with EKSU system. This can be skipped only with BKSU installation.

Step 2 provides the procedures to configure the basic-level features of ipLDK-60 system,which are mostly fundamental and typical in the real customer sites.Most steps in this section are necessary to be configured in order to get the most effective usage of the system. Detail settings may vary on site-by-site.

2-1) Initializing hardware configuration automatically

ipLDK-60 system software should be initialized at its first installation to properly read the hardware configuration. Get all the necessary interface boards assembled before power on.This initialization process applies only for the 1st hardware configuration. If hardware add-on cases, different procedure should be followed. Refer to the Hardware Installation manual for the details.

Procedure : 1) Complete all hardware installations and wiring.*2) Before system power on, check the SW1 DIP4 “on” at the

MBU on BKSU.3) Then, power on. System software automatically starts and processes the initialization which takes less than a minute.*4) Set the SW1 DIP4 “off” to protect from Database re- initialization after the initialization just in case of any types of system failure. This is the completion of this process.

Now, system is ready to provide the default call services, which will be explained at the next page.

Notes :System Database (DB) will be refreshed when it restarts in

any reason with SW1 DIP4 “on”.It is necessary to check the hardware configuration to

make sure that automatic initialization is properly performed.This can be checked at Pre-programmed/Configuration (PGM101~103).

2-2) Installing PC-Admin Program and connecting PC to the system

There are two ways to do the programming of ipLDK-60 system - 1) PC-ADMIN, 2) Keyset-ADMINThis guide will be primarily based on PC-ADMIN. For Keyset based ADMIN, please refer to the programming manual.

1) Install PC-Admin S/W on your PC by running “Setup.exe” file of PC-Admin. Get the PC-Admin Setupfile at www.LG-Nortel.com.brPC Requirements :

Pentium Celeron 233M or above, at least 64MB RAM, MS Windows NT/2000/XP

2) Set the IP Address of PCIP Setting on PC : 192.168.1.x,Delete Gateway/Subnet field.Default IP of ipLDK-60 : 192.168.1.1

3) Connect PC and ipLDK-60 (LAN port on MBU) via LAN directly

4) Run the PC-Adminprogram on your PC. You will see the loginpop-up window.Input ID/Password

Even though sophisticated administrations can be performed with this program, for the beginners, it is strongly recommended to simply follow the instructions and fully understand this guide in advance. Later on, complex levels of programming can be learned through the programming manual.

2-4) Setting the nation code as Brazil

It is necessary to set the system nation code as “Brazil” to load the default values for Brazil market as the first step.

1) Select the nation as “Brazil”at Location information (PGM100).

2) Check SW1 DIP4 “on” and click update

3) Reset the system by pressing the reset button on MBU. Then all default configuration for Brazil will be loaded

2-5) Understanding the default configurationOnce hardware installation(Step1) and initialization(Step2-1) are completed, ipLDK-60 is ready to provide basic call services as followings based on the default configuration prior to any programming.From this default operation, it is necessary to do the planning of the programming for the customer site.It is recommended to use the customer requirement check-list (refer to Page 68) for effective planning.

Default Numbering plan :1) CO and station port numbers are assigned as in figures by default.

CO number is assigned from left to right : CO1/2/3, CO4/5/6 at the upperStation number is assigned from left to right : 100~107, 108~115 at the upperSTA2(101) is set as the system attendant.

Default Call Operation :1) Incoming calls from any CO lines go only to STA2(101).

Then, STA2 can transfer the call to the other station as requested.2) For outgoing calls, press “0” followed by the destination number.

System will seize one of idle CO lines from CO1 to CO3 orderly by default for 308 basic case. There is no restriction pre assigned to make any type of calls

like local, long distance, international.3) For station to station internal calls, press the extension number directly.4) These call services are the same for 24 hours, set as Day mode.

Above default numbering plan & operation can be modified accordingly from the customer requests. These lists below can address most of typical requirements for small companies (Details are the Step 2-5)1) “Numbering Plan” - change the station number if requested 2) “CO Ring Assignment” - which CO line incoming calls go to which station(s)3) “CO Group Access Station” - which stations use which CO lines4) Change the default value for the basic feature operation such as call restriction

This part gives the instructions to the basic programming on the typical items for small companies.As explained in Step 2-5), the followings are most frequently requested items for basic programming.

The station number can be changed by range or station by station. In addition to station number changes, there are several sets of feature codes available. 2-6-2) CO Ring Assignment – Assigning which CO line incoming calls go to which station(s)By default, all incoming CO calls are switched only to STA2(101). This default call routing only to station 101 can be

modified generally in 3 ways as follows.- Incoming calls via specific CO line(s) can be programmed to go to a certain station or multi stations.- Incoming calls via specific CO line(s) can be programmed to go to a station group (Also called as “Hunt Group”.)- Incoming calls via specific CO line(s) can be programmed to go to DISA (This is for assigning AA(Auto attendant))

* If a CO line is assigned for DISA above, the system AA is activated. AA activation scenario will be explained in Step 3.** These incoming call distribution could be differently programmed among 3 options above by time of day. Default mode

is Day mode, which applies the same for 24hours. In this guide, the default operation mode will only be referenced. Therefore, any call distribution exampled here will be applied the same for 24 hours.

Here, the following 2 typical cases will be guided with examples.(The 3rd DISA case will be explained at Step 3-12 CCR)① CO1 calls go only to DKT1(100)② CO2/3 calls go to a station group (101~107) - Next page

with circular ringing -one station ringing at a time.

Assigning CO1 calls to DKT1(100) : 1) Go to CO Line Base Program/CO Ring Assignment

(PGM144/145) in the menu tree and double clicking.2) Choose CO line number “1” and press Refresh button.3) Click the right button of mouse and click “Update Tool”4) Select Mode as “Day”. Select Type as “Station”5) Input 100~100 at “Range Start” and “End”.6) Press “update” when you complete.

Deleting default-assigned STA2(101) from CO1 :Go to step 3) above. Input 101~101at “Range Start” and “End”. Mark “Delete Ring Assignment” at the bottom of the window. Click update.

Now, CO1 Incoming calls go only to DKT1 (100).

This is the 2nd example of CO line call distribution② CO2/3 calls go to a station group (101~107) with circular ringing -one station ringing at a time.

Assigning CO2 to STA2~STA7 (101~107) : 1) Go to CO Line Base Program/CO Ring Assignment(PGM144/145)

in the menu tree and double clicking.2) Choose CO line number “2” and “3”. press Refresh.3) Click the right button of mouse and click “Update Tool”4) Select Mode as “Day”. Select Type as “Hunt Group” and put the

group number “620”5) Press “update” when you complete.

Now, incoming calls from CO2/CO3 will go to STA2~STA8 (101~107). All idle stations will ring simultaneously.

By default, when a station tries an outgoing call, the system seizes a CO line from CO1 to CO3, which is in the idle status. Default Configuration

For an outgoing call, a station can use any CO line which is idle in order. CO1~3 is grouped as CO group 1 by default.

During DB upload, no admin changes are allowed by PC-Admin or Keyset Admin. After DB upload completion, ipLDK-60 will be reset automatically if “Automatic reset” is “on”

Pre-requisite before PRI installation and programming. -“How many simultaneous calls(PRI Channels, which is CO lines)” and “how many DID numbers to use(Destination stations)” should be decided by the customer and contracted with the service provider.-Station numbers could be assigned the same as DID numbers subscribed from the Telco or can be assigned based on internal station number plan differently.-PRI channels(CO lines) are not directly dedicated to the specific station numbers. So, this should be handled by the system. To do so, ipLDK-60 should be programmed properly.-With the shared-use mechanism of PRI channels by any stations, it is required to give the caller’s ID (DID number) to the callee for any outgoing calls. In order to do this by ipLDK-60, it is required to be programmed as “outgoing caller ID assignment”- For any incoming DID calls, it is required to convert the DID number to the dedicated internal station number if the station numbering plan is different from the subscribed DID numbers.

Here, this will be explained with one of typical examplesa.10 PRI channels to be subscribed which will be assigned as CO4~CO13. (There is basic CO1~3 so, next 10 CO

channels are assigned from CO4 to CO13. if 30 channels are subscribed, it will be CO4 ~ CO33)b. Subscribed DID numbers are 031-450-5001~5024 (24 stations)c. Internal station numbers are assigned the same as the DID subscriber number.

Stations can be grouped for incoming call routing and Call Pick-up purposes. 7 types of groups can be defined in ipLDK-60, called as “Hunt Group” as a representative term for these groups. A type of group can be selected and programmed appropriately for the customer site usage. UCD(Uniform Call Distribution) will be exampled as the most typical type for small companies at next page

Group Type Description

Circular A call is routed to hunt group. If first destination is unavailable or unanswered, the call is routed to the next station in the group.

TerminalIf the call is unanswered or unavailable, it is directed to the next listed station in the group. The call will continue to be routed until reaching the last station in the group.

UCD Calls are routed to the station in the group that has been idle for the longest time.

Ring All stations in the group will ring when a call is received.Voice Mail

This group is assigned for Voice Mail and only the SLT assigned as the member of the VM group.

Pick-upA station can be assigned to a Call Pick-Up group and then may pick-up (answer) calls to other stations in the group employing the system’s Group Call Pick-Up feature.

Net VM Group

This group is defined to support a Centralized Voice Mail system for a networked environment. At supported systems, the group is used to handle the AA/VM requirements from the central iPECS. The Net VM group may be an external VM system or the iPECS Feature Server.

For example, Station 100~103 are grouped as “Ring” and station 104~107 are groupedas “UCD”

Calls are directed to the station in the UCD group that has been idle for the longest time. If all stations are busy or unavailable when the call is received, the call may be routed to an alternate location or may continue to wait (queue) for an available station in the group. After queuing to the group, the caller may be routed to an overflow destination, which can be a Station, Station Group or Voice Mailbox. Here, only key operations will be guided. For details, refer to the Programming manual.

3-6) Installing VOIB Board

VoIP Interface Board should be installed to use VoIP features such as IP phone, Softphone or SIP trunk service from ISPs or multi ipLDK-60 networking over IP. There are VOIB and VOIU, which supports 4 VOIP channels respectively. VOIB is mounted at CN14 on the basic MBU and VOIU is mounted on VOIB. The overall procedures to implement any VOIP features are

1) Install the VOIB board and Board Programming2) Then, Enable any VoIP Services to use : IP Phone, Phontage (Basic mode only), SIP Trunk Service

Procedure to Install VOIB Board :Install the VOIB(4ch only) or VOB/VOIU (4+4ch=8ch) on basic MBUSet the IP/Gateway address of VOIB via PC-Admin. IP should be prepared with a public IP address.Set the number of channels for IP Phone use and IP Trunk use.

2) Go to Pre-Programmed/Configuration(PGM101~103). Position the mouse on VOIB. Then, Click the right button of mouse. Click again “VOIB Data View”(PGM340/341)

3) Input the IP and Gateway Address.4) Check the SW1 DIP4 at “Off” position to save the new settings.5) Click update. VOIB Board will be automatically reset.

3-7) IP Extension - Phontage

Phontage is the LG-Nortel proprietary IP Softphone that works only with LG-Nortel ipLDK-60 system. (Phontage Basic version only). Phontage is controlled by License system so the license by copy should be purchased and installed in the system. Basically 2 copies are embedded as free of charge.

1) VOIB Board should be installed. (VOIB-4ch, VOIB+VOIU -8ch)2) License for Phontage Basic (LIP-SP) should be downloaded and installed on the system.3) Set the system4) Install Phontage program on the PC

Registering User ID/Password for the phontage users :1) Go to IP Phone Attribute (PGM386). Position the mouse at Bin No 1

and click the right button. ID/Password setting menu to be displayed at the bottom.

2) Input the ID/Password for Phontage for each user.3) Repeat Step 2 until complete all the users ID and Password. Update.

Now, the phontage users can login in with the pre-registered IP/Password.

Installing the Phontage Software on user’s PC :1) Get the Phontage Software from distributors/Resellers.2) Install the Phontage Basic program. Follow the installation wizard

Setting the Network and Login :1) Start the Phontage client software on the PC. Log-in

window to be popped up. Click the “Network” button to set the network configuration.

LG-Nortel IP phones (LIP-6030D, LIP-6012) can be registered in ipLDK-60, which can be installed in the company LAN or outside, for example at home remotely. In this case, any changes will be saved as database file(xxx.usr) and should be uploaded to get it applied to the system.2 different admin programs are provided.

LCR is a system programmable feature that automatically selects the least expensive available route when an outgoing CO call is made. With this feature enabled properly, system automatically convert to the least cost route when a user dials any access code. As well, this feature can be differently programmable by time during day and night and by day during week.
