Download the app

Download the free Smith & Noble Smart ShadesApp from your App Store. Available for IOS andAndroid.

Once downloaded, open the App and Sign Up or Sign In.

Before you begin

Before using your Smith & Noble Smart Shades, the SmartHub, App, motorized shades and handheld remotes mustbe configured and paired.

Creating a new account

If you have already created an account, log in using theemail and password used when you set up the account.

If it is your first time logging in, follow the steps in the appto create a new account.

Enter a name, email, password and user type for youraccount. Then press SIGN UP.

Note: To select your user type, tap on I AM and selectHOMEOWNER, FAMILY MEMBER, GUEST OR INSTALLER.

A verification code will be sent to the email you provided.Enter the code and tap CONFIRM. Your account has beensuccessfully created.

Installing the Smart HubThe Smart Hub has a range of 85ft in all directions. Installyour Smart Hub in a place where the Wi-Fi signal hasgood quality.

We recommend a central location for the Smart Hub tomaximize the range to your devices.

Connect the Smart Hub to the Power Adapter Plug andthe AC Adapter to the power outlet.

Once the Smart Hub is connected to a power outlet, theLED will turn on. When the LED turns blue, you are readyto pair the Smart Hub to the App.

IMPORTANT: The Smart Hub will need to be paired to yourrouter and requires a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.

Before attempting to pair your Smart Hub to your router,please be sure a 2.4 GHz network is set up and available.If you are unsure how to set up a 2.4 GHz network, youshould contact your network provider or refer to yourrouter manual.

Pairing the Smart HubOnce you have created your account, you are ready to pairthe hub.

Note: The Smart Hub requires a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.Before attempting to pair your Smart Hub to your router,please be sure a 2.4 GHz network is set up and available. Ifyou are unsure how to do this, please contact your networkprovider.

Confirm that your home's 2.4 GHz network is enabledand that your phone is connected to the same 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.

Turn on your phone's Bluetooth. The app will use yourphone's Bluetooth to search for and locate the SmartHub.

Tap GET STARTED and CONFIRM the LED on the hub isblue.

Note: If the LED light is not blue, press and hold the resetbutton until the LED light starts blinking red then releasethe button until the light shines solid blue.

If prompted, allow location detection. This is needed forsystem management and for use of features like sunset &sunrise schedules.

Tap OK when prompted to allow use of Bluetooth forpairing.

Once your hub is detected, tap PAIR TO NETWORK.

Confirm the network SSID is correct, enter the passwordand tap SAVE.

If prompted, update the Firmware so your hub has thelatest updates

Once your hub is successfully paired, the LED will turngreen.

Adding shades

Once you have paired your Smart Hub, you can begin addingyour motorized shades .

Shade limits –UP, DOWN and FAVORITE – can only be set usingthe handheld remote. Make sure the shade limits are set whereyou would like them before pairing to the app. Refer to yourinstallationinstructions if youneedto adjustshadelimits.

To add shades, tap NEW SHADE on the SHADES screen or tapthe gear icon, then select NEW SHADE.

Note: Shades can also be added from SETTINGS – MYSHADES.

Tap ADD NEW SHADE. Follow the steps to select the shadetype, name and room then press CONTINUE.

Note: When naming your shade, use alphanumericcharacters only for shade names. Do not use specialcharacters.

Next follow the steps in the app toPairingshades.

Select the channel on the remote for the shade you want topair to the app.

On the back of the remote, press & hold the LIMIT andCOMFIRM button simultaneously for 3 seconds until the shadejogs & sounds 5 long beeps.

Tap CONFIRM on the app during the long beeps and yourshade will be paired to the hub.

Repeat these steps until all your motorized shades have beenadded and paired. Shades will be added in order from 01 to 32.

PairingwithoutRemote

Press the SETTINGS button on the shade motor until the shadejogs & sounds 5 long beeps.

Tap CONFIRM on the app during the long beeps and yourshade will be paired to the hub.

Repeat these steps until all your motorized shades have beenadded and paired. Shades will be added in order from 01 to 32.

ROLLER SHADES, SOLAR SHADES, SHEER SHADES AND CELLULAR SHADES

There are two ways to pair your shade to the hub. You can use the handheld remote or the Setting button on the shade’s motor. Follow the instructions in the app based on if you are or are not using a handheld remote.

Press the P2 button on the back of the remote. The shade will jog &beep.

Press the P2 button on the back of the remote again. The shade willjog & beep again.

Repeat these steps until all your motorized shades have beenadded and paired. Shades will be added in order from 01 to 32.

Unpairing shadesTo unpair a shade, go to SETTINGS and select MYSHADES.

Select the shade you want to unpair.

Tap ‘HOW TO UNPAIR THIS SHADE’ to open theunpairing screen.

Next, tap UNPAIR and the shade will jog and beepindicating it has been unpaired.

Note: The shade must be unpaired prior to deletingor it will not be completely removed from both theapp and hub.

Deleting shadesTo delete a shade, go to SETTINGS and select MYSHADES.

Select the shade you want to delete.

Tap ‘HOW TO UNPAIR THIS SHADE’ and follow the stepsto unpair the shade.

Once the shade is unpaired, tap BACK to return to theEDIT SHADE screen.

Now tap DELETE SHADE and the shade will bedeleted.

Note: The shade must be unpaired prior to deletingor it will not be completely removed from both theapp and hub.

Hiding and unhiding shadesTo hide a shade, go to SETTINGS and select MYSHADES.

Select the shade you want to hide.

Tap HIDE SHADE and the shade will be hidden.Hidden shades will no longer be available to controlwith the app.

Note: To unhide a shade, go to MY SHADES andselect the shade you want to unhide and tapUNHIDE.

Adding scenesScenes allow you to control multiple motorized windowtreatments based on a pre-set action.

Before adding scenes to the app, you must have motorizedshades paired and added to the app. See Adding & pairingshades.

To create a scene, tap NEW SCENE on the SCENES screen or tapthe gear icon, then select NEW SCENE.

Note:Scenes can also be added from SETTINGS – MY SCENES.

Enter a name for your scene and select an icon then tap SAVE.

Next, tap NEW SCENE COMMAND to select the shades youwould like in the scene.

Select the shade you would like in your scene from the list ofavailable shades.

On the shade control screen, select the desired shade action forthe scene. Once the action is triggered, tap SAVE to confirm theaction. Repeat this set until all the shades for that scene havebeen added.

Note: To set the shade action for the scene, select from one ofthe pre-set shade limits: UP, DOWN or FAVORITE or set acustom position with the slider feature if available. The shadewill operate in real time when the selection is made. Allow theshade to complete the action. DO NOT PRESS STOP duringoperation. Pressing STOP before saving will save the operationin the STOP position.

Once saved, your scenes will appear on the SCENE screen.

Note: You can choose to add a delay for when the shadeoperates if preferred. Tap on the numbers next to the shadeand select the desired delay (in seconds).

Deleting scenes

To DELETE SCENES, hold down on any of the existing sceneicons on the SCENE screen. The icons will wiggle and an EDITbutton will appear on each scene.

Note: Scenes can also be deleted from SETTINGS – MY SCENES.

Tap the EDIT button for the scene you would like to delete to openthe scene details.

Tap CONFIG on the top right corner, then select DELETE SCENE.

Once you confirm you want to delete the scene, it will be deleted .

Editing scenes

To edit a scene, hold down on the scene icon on the SCENEscreen. The icons will wiggle and an EDIT button will appear oneach scene.

Note: Scenes can also be edited from SETTINGS – MY SCENES.

Tap the EDIT button for the scene you would like to edit toopen the scene details.

Edit the scene, then tap OK to save your changes.

Adding schedules

Schedules allow you to conveniently pre-set a time, dateand frequency to trigger an action for your Scenes orShades.

Before adding schedules to the app, you must havemotorized shades paired and added to the app. SeeAdding & pairing shades. You can add schedules toscenes or to individual shades.

From SETTINGS, select MY SCHEDULES.

Note: You can add schedules to scenes or toindividual shades. Select the correct tab at thebottom of the MY SCHEDULES screen based on if youare adding a schedule to a scene or shade.

Tap NEW SCENE SCHEDULE or NEW SHADE SCHEDULE.

Next, select the time, date and frequency to automaticallyactivate the selected scene or shade. Tap OK and theschedule is now saved.

Note: Schedules can be turned on and off by toggling theswitch to the right of the schedule.

Editing schedulesTo edit a schedule, go to SETTINGS – MY SCHEDULESand tap the schedule you want to edit.

Edit the schedule, then tap OK to save your changes.

Deleting schedulesTo delete a schedule, go to SETTINGS – MY SCHEDULESand tap the schedule you want to remove.

Tap CONFIG, then select DELETE SCHEDULE and theschedule will be removed.

Adding roomsAdding Rooms allows you to organize the shades in yourhome by room.

To create Rooms, go to SETTINGS and select MY ROOMS.

Tap NEW ROOM and follow the steps to select a name, iconand background for your Room.

Note: Use alphanumeric characters only for roomnames. Do not use special characters.

Once you have created Rooms, you can add shades to eachroom.

Editing roomsTo edit a room, go to SETTINGS – MY ROOMS and select theroom you would like to edit.

Edit the room, then tap OK to save your changes.

Deleting roomsTo delete a room, go to SETTINGS – MY ROOMS and select theroom you would like to delete.

Tap DELETE ROOM and the room will be deleted.

Adding shades to a roomOnce you have added Rooms to your Home, you can assignshades to your rooms.

Go to SETTINGS and select MY ROOMS.

Select the room that you would like to add shades to.

From the shades listed at the bottom of the screen, tap onthe shades you want to add to the room. You can select asingle or multiple shades for each room. A check mark willappear next to the selected shades to indicate which shadesare assigned to that room.

Tap OK and the selected shades have been assigned to theroom.

Deleting shades from a roomTo remove a shade from a room, Go to SETTINGS and selectMY ROOMS.

Tap on the shade you want to remove from the room. Theblue check mark will disappear indicating that shade is nolonger assigned to the room.

Tap OK and the selected shade will be removed from theroom.

Adding users

Users must download the Smith & Noble Smart Shades app and create an account prior to being added to your account.

To add a user to your account, go to SETTINGS then tap USERS.

Tap NEW INVITE and enter the email address for the user you would like to add.

Once the user is found, select their ROLE – either GUEST, FAMILY MEMBER OR INSTALLER.

Note: For users set up as GUEST or INSTALLER, you willneed to assign an expiration date for their access to your account.

Tap SAVE and the new user has been added to your account.

Added users can be viewed and managed in SETTINGS –USERS.

Adding an additional hubLarger homes or locations with signal interference , mayrequire an additional hub.

Go to SETTINGS and select MY HUBS.

Tap ADD NEW HUB and CONFIRM the LED on the newhub is blue.

Note: If the LED light is not blue, press and hold the resetbutton until the LED light starts blinking red thenrelease the button until the light shines solid blue.

Once your hub is detected, tap PAIR TO NETWORK.

Confirm the network SSID is correct, enter the passwordand tap SAVE.

If prompted, update the Firmware so you have the latestversion. Once updated, your hub will be successfullypaired.

All hubs paired will be listed under MY HUBS inSETTINGS.

Note: When adding shades to home with multiple hubs, you will need to select the hub you would like your shades paired to.

Adding an additional homeThe Smart Shades app can control multiple homes from thesame app. A hub in required for each home.

Go to SETTINGS and select MY HOMES.

Tap NEW HOME and select a name, icon and background forthe home. Then tap OK.

In MY HOMES, tap SELECT to choose the newly added home.

Next, follow the steps for Pairing the Smart Hub. Once youhave paired the hub, you are ready to add rooms, shades,scenes and schedules to the new home.

Deleting an additional homeTo delete a home, go to SETTINGS – MY HOMES and tap thehome you want to remove.

Tap DELETE HOME and the home will be removed.

Reset contents and settings

To reset the contents and settings of the app, go to SETTINGS then tap RESET CONTENT AND SETTINGS.

Confirm that you want to reset the app, then enter your account password.

Note: You cannot undo this step once completed.

Once you tap PROCEED, the app will be reset and all content cleared.

Note: Clearing the app does not unpair shades from the hub - it only clears the app settings. In order to completely reset the system, you need to unpair all shades, reset contents & settings on the app then reset the hub.

Reset hub

To reset the hub, press the button located on the back ofthe hub and hold it until the LED color changes to RED.

Once the LED is RED, the hub has been reset.

You will need to wait until the LED changes to BLUEbefore re-pairing.
