NEW YORK CITY SUBWAYmind the gapthis thesis, situated in New York City’s subway system, aims to create thresholds between the city above and the city below, transitional spaces between a variety of urban neighborhoods and landmarks, and a hybridized architecture of banal programs and highly fantastical spaces. this thesis uses the phenomenology of the church as a precedent for a mediation of the real and the other, re-deploying it as a transformed, subterranean architecture, out-of-context and out-of-
scale.advisors: vincent mulcahy, till

S E R P E N T I N E P A V I L I O Ni m g _ w a l lproposal for a pavilion of layered wall types that filter and mediate light for various effects and foci. this project involved scripting and 1:1 prototyping to create a continuous feedback loop of material hypothesis and reality. the lighting effects were created through perforated and folded metal, a secondary layer of a loosely knit material, and a final layer of warped plastic, each relating to one another via a hierarchical
system of points. critic, jenny sabin,
