History Ice hockey tournaments have been held in

every Olympics since 1920 1924 was the first time it was held in the

winter(originally in summer, but was moved to winter)

The first women's tournament was held in the 1998 Winter Olympic games

The sport was originally for amateurs, but NHL players and other professional players complained

All competitors were allowed starting in 1998

Description In ice hockey, players skate, while using

hockey sticks to pass the puck and score in the opposing teams goal

Players where shoulder pads, helmets, gloves, arm pads, and protective leg wear

Players also get into a lot of “arguments” too

Gold Medal HockeyThere are three 20 minute periods, with five

players on the ice In overtime, there is an additional 20

minutes, with four players on the ice If its still a tie, then there is a five player

shoot outGoalies are allowed to be changed, but the

shooters can not be changed unless of a penalty or injury
