WORK EXPERIENCE

United Electric Controls, Watertown, MA November 2008 – PresentProject Engineer II January 2012 – Present

Provide Leadership as a senior engineer to other junior members of the engineering team. Take on larger redesigns and fully lead the design project including creating project/test plans and

creating gannt charts to track deadlines. Become a leader of kaizen events to improve manufacturing processes or implement design

improvements. Conduct Research on Materials for new prototypes and for design improvements, create reports based

on this research to present to marketing for new product ideas Completed research projects on new product ranges and sensor types to give marketing ideas for new

potential products. Complete simulations on SolidWorks models to verify design work before prototyping begins. Create detailed drawings for designs using GD&T and following proper drafting standards. Attended the 2012 Northeast Shingo conference and used the skills acquired to develop a lean project

development process for design engineering.

Project Engineer I January 2010 – December 2011

Page 2: Stephen Mills resume

Designed product improvements for various product lines, including mechanical switches, electrical switches and transducers

Utilized the principles of Lean Manufacturing to participate in kaizen events to improve manufacturing processes and product designs

Redesigned products that needed new tooling to improve tooling life and product functionality. Worked closely with senior engineers to execute test plans and create models using SolidWorks based

on new design projects or sustaining projects. Reviewed material requirements on existing products to look for potential improvements in what

materials are used for enclosures and sensors.

Manufacturing Engineer I November 2008 – December 2009 Designed automation fixturing for leak testing, assembly, product testing, and life cycle testing. Performed time study analysis to determine issues within the process flow. Developed value stream maps to look for potential waste in the manufacturing process of a product. Looked for ways to reduce scrap through improvements to existing processes. Wrote and updated manufacturing test and assembly procedure to insure that processes are

documented to ISO standards.

National Grid, Brockton, MA Summers 2005/2006/2007Engineering Co-op

Worked with senior engineers to complete large conversion and reconductoring projects Designed solutions for feeder balancing and for the creation of new feeders from the substation Created excel worksheets to organize work for large projects as well as determine necessary limitations

for work, such as cable tensions and duct clearances

DESIGN EXPERIENCESenior Level Electromechanical Design: Wentworth Institute of TechnologyASME Competition Window Washing Robot (First Place Finish District A)

Objective was to design a robot that would work autonomously and clean a double sash window in less than 5 minutes.

Robot had to clean upper and lower pane of glass and had to transition between the two panes under its own power.
