Stepping Into Internship Program - Position Description The Australian Network on Disability’s Stepping Into program is a paid internship scheme that matches talented university students with disability with roles in leading Australian businesses. Position Title National Disability Insurance Australia - Mental Health Support Officer Intern Location Geelong Location (Hunter Region, NSW, or Perth, WA may also be considered) Position Duration Minimum of 152 hours or 4 weeks full time Commencing Dec 2019 – Feb 2020 Position Overview The Intern will be responsible for supporting the Mental Health Team to deliver a program of work to improve the way the agency and external providers deliver services to people with psychosocial disability. The Intern will also assist and support in building and nurturing sustainable relationships, both across the Agency and externally. Main Tasks and Responsibilities: Support and assist the Mental Health Team in developing the overall capability of the Agency regarding working with people with mental health issues and psychosocial disability. Position Overview

The Intern will be responsible for supporting the Mental Health Team to deliver a program of work to improve the way the agency and external providers deliver services to people with psychosocial disability.

The Intern will also assist and support in building and nurturing sustainable relationships, both across the Agency and externally.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

Support and assist the Mental Health Team in developing the overall capability of the Agency regarding working with people with mental health issues and psychosocial disability.

Improve the understanding of providers who support people with psychosocial disability to engage with the NDIS

Be able to work collaboratively with others

Assist in maintaining the strong links between recommendations/strategic advice and frontline operational areas.

Be organised and support projects, reporting progress against actions and escalating identified risks

Contribute to the development of briefs and reports for relevant internal and external forums.

Ideal Degree/Discipline

Community Service, Social Work or Occupational Therapy with mental health competencies

Eligibility Requirements

Currently studying in their final or penultimate year of a relevant undergraduate or post-graduate degree with an Australian university.

Australian citizens or permanent residents only.

Complete relevant internal onboarding processes and employment screens including police check and WWCC
