The KEY component to reach each subject group is building a relationship. Each group has hadtheir share of past community groups that have come to help. Our effort is long term, inreality, our effort will forge lifetime relationships. Trust is the foundation to any relationship. We must prove to each group, by our actions, that they can trust us.As our relationship strengthens, we will lead each group to the next level of accountability.

First Level - OUTREACH :Introduction of our goals. Building trust every time we meet.

Second Level - MOTIVATION : Trust will open doors and relationships will share a vision.

Third Level - PARTICIPATE : Relationships will strengthen / seeds of accountability will be laid.

Forth Level - STAKEHOLDER : Are leaders born or are they made? Well never know.

Goals set by Education Ad Hoc Committee meeting, Sunday, November 21, 2010 at 2 pm

Parents:1. To increase opportunities for parents to obtain GEDs or further their education.

    2. Provide resources in the community, and online education.3. Teach parents to have stimulating dialogue with their children, ask what they learned in school.

    4. Teach parents how to engage in dialogue with teachers. What questions to ask, how to interpretreport cards, etc.5. Empowering values.

Students (Kids) :1. Encourage kids to share what they know with their parents.2. Create activities that increase self-esteem.3. When in college, come back and mentor high school students.4. Create programs that incentivize the kids.

    5. Create activities that encourage critical thinking.6. ASK the kids what they are missing and how we can help fill the gaps (Focus group)?

Community:1. Create mentorship programs, or tap into community resources.2. Identity community resources to partner with: Businesses, organizations, and mentorship programs that expose children tocareers.3. Partner with local colleges, Universities, and Technical schools. Allow auditing of classes with possible college credits.

Teachers:Remind teachers that they are the students heroes.

Facilitate communication between them and the parents.Role modeling

In my opinion the goal set for Teachers will getaccomplished as a by product of Parent / Student /Community Goals. A distinction is not needed.
