Upload the files to the directory in the web host where you want your blog to live and finally, run the installation file.

After setting it up, you need to have four pieces of information about the database namely database name, username, password and host name. Without these, you will not be able to set up WordPress. Download WordPress’ current version. This is a very easy step. Once downloaded, uncompress the WordPress zip file. When done, you need to configure WordPress. The next thing to do is choose your install directory and upload.



If you prefer having your WordPress blog in another directory of your site, rename ‘WordPress’ folder to ‘blog’ and upload that to the root directory.

But if you want your blog to be in your site’s root directory meaning your blog will be located at your domain, you simply need to open WordPress folder and upload the files and folders in the web root.

The last step is to finish and install. In a browser, visit the domain where you uploaded WordPress and follow the directions that you can find there. You will be provided with a username and password that you should save in a safe place. When done, you just have yourself a new blog. You can log in with your username and password and begin writing.



Perhaps the fun part about blogging at WordPress is choosing a theme. There are a lot of great places to find WordPress themes. If you have found one, download and unzip it the way you did with the ZIP file of WordPress.

You can then add your theme after uploading. Search for the themes folder in the theme section of WordPress. You can find two theme folders default and classic. Simply drop the new theme folder in with them.
