Winter, spring, summer, and fall: In every season kids

get dirty, so in every season kids need a bath! Go

through the year with little bunny—splashing in puddles,

rolling in grass, eating a drippy banana split, and painting

pictures. And when there’s a mess, it’s rub-a-dub-dub from

head to toe. This adorable follow-up to Time For a Hug will

make bath time fun!

Phillis Gershator has written many picture books for

children, including When It Starts to Snow (Henry Holt),

Listen, Listen (Barefoot Books), and Time For a Hug

(Sterling). Phillis worked as a children’s librarian for the

Brooklyn Public Library and the St. Thomas/St. John

Department of Education. She lives with her husband and

frequent coauthor, David, in the US Virgin Islands. For more

information about Phillis, see phillisgershator.com.

David Walker is the illustrator of numerous children’s books,

including Before You Were Mine (Putnam), Time For a Hug

(Sterling), and Bears on Chairs (Candlewick) to name a

So few have seen a dragon—and yet we all know of this elusive and mythic creature. But this magnificent folio is the next-best

thing to meeting a real one. Rich in legend and lore, it transports readers to the heart of the dragon world, offering dramatic details of dragon anatomy, rare dragon memorabilia, precious dragon secrets, and stunning images of different species.

S. A. Caldwell studied English Literature at Edinburgh University and taught English in Prague before moving into book publishing as an editor. As a children’s editor her titles have included Fairies, Mythological Creatures, and the number-one New York Times bestseller, Pirates (all Carlton).

Scales of the Wyrm Treasury

--------Drawn from the darkest corners of Europe, this collection of dragon scales is the pride of the Wyrm Treasury in

Krakow, Poland. Legend holds that the scales will burst into flame should they ever be used to devise evil spells against dragonkind. Scale samples of this size fall away from a dragon’s body throughout its long life, though strangely they are almost never seen. From the scorching heat of the Vulcanian Fire Dragon to the frosty touch of the Black Ice Dragon, all dragon scale samples preserve the original body temperature of their hosts.

Dragon Claws A Study of Talons

--------A dragon’s claws or talons must surely rank very high

among this creature’s great weapons. Indeed, writings from ages past tell of claws that could slice through the breastplate of a slayer’s armour as simply as an oar cuts the water of a lake.

Dragons typically have three or four talons on each hand or foot, though some water dragons have as many as five. Claws may also be found on the wing tips of some species. Tougher than diamonds, dragon claws are made of a material unseen in any other animal in the natural world. Fallen claws are highly prized by sorcerors and are ground down to a glittering powder for use in their spells.

Dagger-sharp WeaponsA dragon’s claws must be kept in prime condition at all times. Tree trunks and other rough surfaces may be used for sharpening, while broken claws are quick to heal. A dragon will retract its talons when moving on hard ground to prevent damage and to permit stealth – clattering claws must be avoided when creeping up on potential prey.

A dragon’s hands are both forceful and skilful. With a grip sufficient to crush bones, their fingers are also incredibly nimble.

PinocchioCarlo Collodi, illustrated by Scott McKowen, afterword by Arthur PoberA menacing fairy tale with a moral, Pinocchio follows the perilous adventures of a wooden puppet who dreams of becoming real. As he journeys from the deceptive “Field of Miracles” to the land where lazy boys turn into donkeys, Pinocchio’s unrestrained curiosity, dishonesty, and selfishness put him in constant danger. And all the while his nose keeps growing larger whenever he tells a lie …

Carlo Collodi, the pen name of Italian writer Carlo Lorenzini (November 24, 1826-October 26, 1890), was an Italian children’s writer known for the world-renowned fairy tale novel, The Adventures of Pinocchio.

Dr. Arthur Pober has spent more than 20 years in the fields of early childhood and gifted education. He is the former principal of one of the world’s oldest laboratory schools for gifted youngsters, Hunter College Elementary School, and former Director of Magnet Schools for the Gifted and Talented in New York City. Arthur is currently the US representative to the European Institute for the Media and European Advertising Standards Alliance. He lives in New York, NY.

Scott McKowen has created award-winning posters and graphics for theater companies across Canada and the United States—including on Broadway. His work has been exhibited in art galleries on both sides of the border, and in 2002 he curated an exhibition of theater posters from around the world that appeared in Stratford, Ontario, and Ottawa and at the Design Exchange in Toronto. Scott was also commissioned by the Royal Canadian Mint to design Canada’s 2001 silver dollar. He lives in Stratford, Ontario.

The War of the WorldsH.G. Wells, illustrated by Scott McKowen, afterword by Arthur PoberWhat would happen if Martians landed on Earth—and none of our weapons could stop them? H.G. Wells’s classic novel imagines this frightening scenario. The horrifying bug-like extraterrestrials wipe out crowds with a single heat-ray, wreaking havoc across the English countryside. Narrated by an unnamed protagonist who flees home to seek out safe ground, this terrifying tale will rivet kids and adults alike.

Herbert George “H. G.” Wells (September 21, 1866-August 13, 1946) was an English author, best known for his work in the “speculative fiction” genre. He was also a prolific writer in many other genres, including contemporary novels, history, politics, and social commentary. Wells is sometimes called “The Father of Science Fiction,” along with Jules Verne. The War of the Worlds was written in the age of British colonialism, and Wells came up with the idea for the story while he and his brother were imagining what might happen if someone came to colonize England the way England had other countries.

Set sail on a voyage of discovery! For 300 years, the Vikings

spread terror across Europe, and this lavish volume brings

the notorious Norsemen to axe-wielding life. Through awe-

inspiring CGI scenes, intricate illustrations, maps, and a timeline,

Vikingworld animates everything from seafaring and sagas,

to raiding and religion, to feasting and fun. It’s sure to stir the

imagination of every would-be warrior.

Robert Macleod lives on the remote Scottish coastline and has

a passionate interest in the Viking age. His inspiration comes

from an old journal belonging to his grandfather Tom Macleod,

which documents the discovery of long-forgotten Viking relics.

Robert has traced these treasures to a Viking burial site, now

fully excavated to reveal fragments of a boat and the remains of a

once-great Viking noble.

KEY SELLING POINTSA perennial favorite for kids, Viking history is often

chosen by teachers for class projects
