A student for FTE funding purposes, are in fundable classes for:
5 hours a day300 minutes a day (5 hours * 60 minutes)1500 minutes a week (5 days * 300 minutes)
180 days a year (90 days a semester)900 hours a school year (180 days * 5 hours)
A student can earn a maximum of 0.5 unweighted FTE per semester.

Q. Why does it matter whatgroup a program is in?
A. Programs in Group 2 are capped by the Legislature.
The district’s appropriated total group 2 weighted FTE (WFTE) is our cap. Any actual Group 2 WFTE over this total is only funded at a weight of 1.0 by the state.
Caps are applied to total Group 2 Weighted FTE, not individual programs within Group 2.
