What is Mental Illness?A wide range of disorders that affect mood, thinking, behaviour

10-Bed Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Stabilization Unit (CAPSU)

• Short stay assessment and crisis stabilization • children and youth age 6 - 17 years in acute psychiatric

crisis requiring urgent hospital intervention• Rapid turnover: 5-7 day length of stay• Capacity to manage high acuity and elopement for

at-risk patients• Specialized multidisciplinary team with dedicated

child and adolescent psychiatrists• Will operate 24 / 7
