Immediate changes to sending treats to school:
The school has a responsibility to uphold the ‘Healthy Schools
Guidelines” as set by the Ministry of Education. We realize that
everyone has the best intentions; however, we have had complaints that
students are getting too many sugary treats at school. The school
recognizes this and therefore we are making some changes. The staff is
asked to have any class food rewards meet this criteria. Please help us
help our students by:
Always ask the teacher before sending any treats for distribution
to the class;
Only ‘special occasions’ will be honored and that is birthdays. One
treat for each person in the class is acceptable. We would
encourage that treat to NOT be sugary junk. Much better choices
include: small oranges that are easily peeled or other cut up fruit
and vegetables. Kindly stop sending donuts, rice Krispy squares,
cookies, candy, cake, and all of that.
Make sure your child has a water bottle at school, please do not
send juice or pop with your child to school;
Sometimes the Knights of Columbus or PSG will have a treat in the
lunches, this will happen on occasion.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this regard.
