Quarterly Business Meeting Summary On August 22nd we conducted the Quarterly Business Meeting of our church. We reviewed and approved Financial Reports. We reviewed and approved the Nominating Report for church volun-teer positions which begin September 1, 2018 and runs thru Au-gust 31, 2019. We also voted to appoint several members to the Deacon Board—Cliff Gray, Rick Harris, Kevin Johnson and Daniel Pennington. Rick Harris and Kevin Johnson are previously or-dained deacons. Cliff Gray and Daniel Pennington were ordained last Sunday. We also heard a report from our Student Pastor Search Committee. This committee which was organized through the Deacon Board consists of Mitzi Currie, Forrest Honeycutt, Lori Jones, Susan Markley, Trent Pilkington and Pastor Barry William-son. Please keep them in prayer as they search for God’s choice to fill this very important position.

There will be no Emerge activities tonight due to the Labor Day holiday.

Have you heard people talking about the “church” calendar? It’s a calendar that has been published for MANY years by our ladies as a fundraiser for ministry in the church and outside the church, too! Currently, the Lamplighters Circle handles this project. For only .50 per listing, you can include your family on the calendar. You can list birthdays (in honor or memory) and anniversaries, too. It’s a good way for your church family to know when you’re celebrating and the funds raised help do so much throughout the year! Calendars are sold for $4 each. Please consider adding your family! Email Becky Mozingo at [email protected] with your list of names, dates, and occasion no later than Septem-ber 20 to be included. You can call Becky at 919-922-9016 with questions.

Volunteers Needed For Church-Wide Ministry to SJAFB Families

On Tuesday, September 18th—from 5-7 p.m.—our church will once again be providing a meal to approximately 300 Air Force family members at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. This meal is a ministry to families of DEPLOYED SERVICE MEMBERS. It is part of the “Hearts Apart” support program. For several years, we have had a great time working together to serve our community, support our military families and encourage those who serve our country! It has been a great experience!

This year we again need volunteers who can help with food prep, cook-ing, making and donating desserts, transporting the meal and supplies to SJAFB, serving the meal on base and cleaning up. We also need prayer warriors to support this outreach. Please see Pastor Barry, Jim Malpass, or Kim Trent if you can participate in any way. Sign-up sheets are available in the CEC hallway across from the Staff Mailbox.

If you plan to drive on base or ride with someone on base on September 18th (and do not have a military ID), we need information from you so you can get on base. Please contact Lynn Thaxton and give her your:

Legal Name, Age, Driver’s License Number and State Issued, Date of Birth, Vehicle License Tag Number (if driving), Name of person you are riding with (if You are not driving). Make sure you have “current” proof of insurance in your car if you are driving. We must have this infor-mation at least a week in advance—two weeks in advance would be best.

We Need Volunteers in the Following Areas for the Hearts Apart Ministry:

Sign-up sheets for each area below are in the CEC Hallway across from the Hospital Board and the Staff Mailbox. Please sign up to help us coordinate.

• Desserts: We need many people to make yummy desserts! We are feeding ~300 people. Please try to deliver your dessert “on or in” a disposable container, bowl or plate. We will slice the desserts on base as we serve them. You can drop off des-serts Monday night in the Fellowship Hall or Tuesday (by 3 p.m.) at the Pointe.

• Monday Night , Sept 17 (6:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall): We need a team of ap-proximately 6 to 8 people to help clean chickens.

• Tuesday, Sept 18 (10 a.m. at the Pointe): We need approximately 5 cooks/prep personnel to help us in the kitchen cook Hamburger Steaks, Burgers, Hotdogs, Vegetables & 3 cooks to help with the BBQ chicken on the cookers. We also need several people to help make hamburger patties and hamburger steak patties.

• Tuesday (3 p.m. at the Pointe): We need volunteers to help us load all the food and transport it to SJAFB, carry it in and set up.

• Tuesday (At SJAFB): We need a volunteer staff of approximately 20-30 people who can stay with us on base and help carry in the food, set-up, serve, clean up, and staff an information table with Stoney Creek Church info. Wearing your Ston-ey Creek tee-shirt would be great!

• Tuesday (3 p.m. & 8 p.m. at the Pointe): We need volunteers who can clean up the kitchen at the Pointe after we cook/load all the food and after we return from SJAFB.
