REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS (RFQ)

City of West Columbia 30” Sanitary Sewer Main Line Along the Saluda River Replacement Project

The City of West Columbia (hereinafter City) is requesting Statement of Qualifications from qualified engineering consulting firms to provide professional engineering, studies, consulting, design, permitting and related services to assist the City with the design, permitting and construction administration of the 30” Sanitary Sewer Main Line Along the Saluda River Replacement Project located along and adjacent to Saluda River off the eastern end of Saluda River Drive, West Columbia, SC 29169 (hereinafter Project). The Project generally consists of removing and replacing approx. 340’ + section of existing 30” sanitary sewer main that runs along with and adjacent to the Saluda River, located near the SCE&G power line crossing at the Riverbanks Zoo Botanical Gardens entrance. The existing 30” reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) sewer main is approx. 45-years old. The discharge end of this line is blocked and has required the City to install temporary bypass pumps to maintain the sewer system flow. The anticipated work includes providing and maintaining ap-propriate sewer bypass pumps and temporary discharge lines, trench excavation, protection and dewatering as required for the removal and replacement of the entire length of the blocked section of 30” RCP (340’ +) be-tween two (2) existing concrete manholes. All Project construction work shall be done while keeping the City’s sanitary sewer functional and completely operational. Time is of the essence, as temporary bypass pumps and discharge hoses have been installed and are necessary for the sewer system to remain operational.
