SCC is located in the Strip District, in the heart of Pittsburgh’s distinctive wholesale food market neighborhood. For details: www.contemporarycraft.org Employment Status: This description is for a full-time position. The employee will be expected to work 40 hours (Tuesday - Saturday / 9 am- 5 pm) per week. Summary: The primary responsibility of the Store Manager is to creatively maximize earned income through the retail operations of a nonprofit arts organization. This dynamic, hands-on position involves active selling and day-to-day operation of retail store featuring high-quality work by national craft artists. Responsibilities include developing a business plan, meeting annual sales goals, merchandise selection, merchandise display, financial reporting, inventory control, marketing, and some special events. Primary Responsibilities • Develop and strategize store business model and the store annual budget • “Go the extra mile” to drive sales and meet monthly sales goals • Manage sales through POS and Big Cartel (e-commerce); strategize and implement promotion with marketing department • Develop and maintain thorough knowledge of craft/design, with special emphasis on artist-made work for sale in the Store • Responsible for daily deposits, sales reports and monthly reporting to finance department • Ensure a clean, organized, well-stocked sales area at all times; contacts artists to schedule receipt or return of consignment merchandise • Preserve positive relationships with consignment artists and maintain accurate sales records and inventory • Train and supervise paid and volunteer staff to achieve sales goals; schedule and assign store staff and volunteers for daily operations, weekend and evening events as needed • Maintain a superior level of professionalism, courtesy and efficiency while putting the needs of the customer first Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in management, business, marketing, or liberal arts, along with five years sales/management experience is preferred, but commensurate experience or education will be considered • The ideal candidate is results-driven, has an outgoing personality, and possesses the excellent customer service, sales, business, organizational and time management skills necessary to succeed in this position • Highly proficient with Point of Sale retail systems, MS Excel, and MS Word; knowledge on Quick Books POS system preferred • Excellent communications and customer service skills • Ability to work holidays, evenings and weekends as needed • Able to lift boxes (up to 50 lbs.), climb stairs, and perform routine shop maintenance To Apply: Send cover letter, resume, salary requirement, and 3 professional references to Yu-San Cheng at [email protected] or by mail to Contemporary Craft, 2100 Smallman St., Pgh, PA 15222.
