StoreJet Software Overview Thank you very much for purchasing Transcend’s StoreJet. The StoreJet Software Utility consists of PC Lock and others under Device Desktop. PC Lock is used to lock the Operating System. It uses the Transcend StoreJet as the key for PC Lock. Even when the computer restarts, the OS will still be locked until the Transcend StoreJet has been replugged in. In other words, only the key has the ability to release the computer from the locked state. Device Desktop consists of Security HDD, My Documents, Mobile Internet Explorer Favorites, Mobile Outlook Express and Address Book Editor. To use StoreJet Utility normally the host operation system must have Outlook Express and Internet Explorer installed.

Installation Important Notes: Transcend provides StoreJet Software including Utility (PC Lock and others under Device Desktop) for MS Windows OS users. However, you should choose alternative of USB-ZIP to execute StoreJet Utility and USB-HDD for multi-partition request. For TS0GSJ25 users, your own hard disk must be initialized and formatted when first using regardless if the hard disk has already been formatted. Please back-up the important data first. 1. Connect the StoreJet to the computer. Run CD:\Software\SJ-Init.exe to initialize the

hard disk. If the initialization finds no hard disk, it is because the hard disk has no partition.

2. If your hard disk has no partition, you will need to create the partition of hard disk first. Please follow the steps below. a. Click right button of the mouse on “My Computer” icon, press “Manage”.

b. Select “Disk Management” and then you’ll see an “Unallocated” disk. Click right button of the mouse on it and press “Create Partition”.

c. Follow the default setting and press “Next” until the “Create Partition Wizard” appears. Choose “Do not format this partition” and press “Next”.

d. After “Creating partition” has completed, the “Unallocated” disk becomes “Healthy”

disk.

3. When the initialization finds the hard disk, you must decide to initialize the hard disk with “USB-ZIP Disk” or ”USB-HDD Disk”. If you select “USB-ZIP Disk” and press “Init”, you will be able to use Utility, but you can’t make multi-partition on your StoreJet. Reversely, if you select “USB-HDD Disk”, you will be able to create more than one partition on StoreJet, but you can’t use Utility. For StoreJet series products except TS0GSJ25, Transcend will initialize the hard disk by “USB-ZIP Disk”. You can change to “USB-HDD Disk” by re-initializing.

4. If you choose “USB-ZIP Disk”, an alert will appear. Click “Yes” to proceed to format, note that all data will be lost. This procedure may spend about one minute.

After the initialization has completed, please replug the Transcend StoreJet.

5. If you choose “USB-HDD Disk”, soonly a message of “Initialization Complete” will appear. Please replug the Transcend StoreJet.

Always on Top

Mobile Outlook ExpressSecurity HDD

Address Book Editor

Mobile Internet Explorer Favorites My Documents

Security HDD

1. Select the “Security HDD” button in the Device Desktop window. A dialog window of “Input / Modify the Access Password for My Security Doc” will appear. Enter the password to login. The initial default password is “0000”.

3. If the password is correct in step 1, the “My Security Doc” explorer application will appear as shown below. Users can now operate any of the usual Windows file management steps, such as, drag-and-drop or hot-keys (e.g. CTL -C, CTL-X, CTL-V, CTL-D etc).

“My Security Doc” explorer

4. Dragging any file or folder from outside of the “My Security Doc” explorer application (e.g. from Windows explorer) into inside the “My Security Doc” window will automatically compress and encrypt the file or folder. Performing the reverse (moving a file or folder to outside of the “My Security Doc” window) will automatically uncompress and decryption the file or folder. All files and folders listed in the “My Security Doc” explorer application are compressed and encrypted into one archive file. Using Windows explorer will find that the archive file is located in the “Device Drive:\DDisk\My ARZip\VNAZS.otz”. Users may periodically backup this archive file for safety, in case the archive file is corrupted.

5. Users can also drag files from Windows explorer to the “Security HDD” icon in the Device Desktop directly, instead of clicking the icon first to open the “Doc” explorer like Windows for copying files.

6. When users delete any file or folder in “My Security Doc” explorer, the program may not shrink the archive file immediately for performance reasons. Users need to select the

“Compress Archive” option to shrink the archive. Right-click on the icon and select “Compress Archive”.

7. A window will pop up when the procedure finishes successfully.

8. If the list in “My Security Doc” explorer seems inconsistent, it is probably due to the

corruption of the index file (Device Drive:\DDisk\My ARZip\ VNAZS.otx). Users can

right-click on the icon and select “ReBuild Archive List” to repair the index file and ensure the list is synchronized with the archived content.

9. The archive file may become corrupted due to media error or some other reasons. When users see an alert window and informing there is an error in the archive file and

requests to check the archive, users can right-click on the icon and select “Check Archive” to open a dialogue window.

10. Select the “Do the Physical Fix” option if users want to fix the archive file. A warning message dialog window will appear to ask for confirmation. This fix option will perform the physical delete for files with a check error. The “Check Archive” option will perform a check and give the users a report without fixing or deleting the corrupted file.

11. Select the “Do the Surface Scan” option to check the archive file byte by byte. This procedure will un-compress, decrypt, and compare each file with the original checksum value. This may take a long time depending on the archive file size.

12. The Compress Archive, Rebuild Archive List, and Check Archive processes may take long time depending on the size of archive file.

13. For performance reasons, it is recommended not to make the size of the archive file more than 1 GBytes. The maximum size allowed for the archive file is 2 GBytes. Don’t let the archive file grow larger than 2 GBytes; otherwise the archive file will become corrupted.
