Better access to education

TRAIN is vital for the Duterte Administration’s AmBisyon Natin 2040 which aims to build a prosperous, high-income country by 2040, where no Filipino is poor.

By sustaining our fast and inclusive economic growth and bringing down the poverty rate to 14% by 2022, we can raise the quality of life for all Filipinos and deliver better opportunities for everyone.

Passage of TRAIN contributes directly to the following:

99% of taxpayers now pay lower personal income taxes. An extra P12 billion per month, equivalent to a 14th-month pay, are now in the Filipino people’s pockets.

According to DepEd, this year’s record-high enrolment of 27.7 million students means more parents are able to send their children to school because they have more money in the family budget.

We are also supporting our labor force by offering free tuition in our State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) and technical skills training of 100,000 construction workers for the Build, Build, Build Program by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

Excise on sweetened beverages can encourage healthier habits, while higher tobacco prices can help prevent Filipinos, especially the youth, from smoking.

Projects that will be funded by TRAIN will create more jobs through the Build, Build, Build Program generating 93,195 jobs in 2018 and 1.7 million jobs until 2022. It will also fund the salaries of 181,980 teachers; 4,824 doctors; 104,629 nurses; 16,300 midwives; and 51,169 other health professionals.

70% of TRAIN taxes will go to building 729 hospitals; 113,553 classrooms; and paving almost 45,000 kms. of national and local roads.
