ith the population on the rise, the global business world has to increase production mainly in the manufacturing and related industries. This is where robots have come to play an important role by helping organizations find ways to maximize and reduce costs. Nowadays, robots are more

intelligent, adaptive and are able to perform complex tasks with great precision and dexterity. As in the past, people used to

think robots are going to take away jobs, but the industry is slowly changing this outlook by educating, training and helping people to see the benefits of robot services.

A recent IDC report said worldwide spending on robotics and related services will hit $135.4 billion in 2019. The two major industries that are expected to see a rise in robotics spending are healthcare and process manufacturing. In the manufacturing sector, robots are being used to create new efficiencies levels, and to bring more safety and security to the overall production process. In the healthcare sector, the purchase of robots has rapidly increased, and spending is expected to double by 2019.

The emergence of AI and self-driving cars will push the robotics industry further to develop new and imaginative products. Already, 40 % of robotics startups are in the consumer sector, and as productivity increases they will be looking to expand operations on a far larger scale. Large tech companies are all over the market making quick acquisitions to strengthen their area of robotic expertise. Due to more and more investments, robot programming and maintenance have also become relatively cheaper.

In this issue, we take a look at the fastest growing robotics solutions providers in the market, and try to understand their business and technology journeys. Some of these companies have been in the industry long enough to clearly understand where the market is heading in the future. As leaders, they are working to complement the skill of robots with high level engineering, programming, management and equipment maintenance. We learn from them how robotics and automation technologies can change the consumer experience within the scope of rapid industrialization.

WEINTEK USAInnovation at its Best

What’s more critical to building a successful company—formulating an appropriate business strategy or building an efficient team? This is the question often asked by the budding entrepreneurs in the business world. Though there are no successful mantras that will help to build a successful company, the

ever-changing market has held onto one idea that has helped organizations build a loyal customer-base and eventually become successful in the business world: Passion for innovation.

Weintek Labs, Inc. a technology service provider, is one such company that has become a global leading (Human Machine Interface) HMI manufacturer with its passion for innovation and the ability to introduce new automation tools, methods, and technologies for increasing the manufacturing processes in North America. From the time the company introduced its first HMI products in 1996 to

the roll out of its new products, the company has continually fostered a culture of innovation in the industry. Dedicated to the development, design, and manufacturing of practical HMI solutions, the company serves Manufacturers, OEMs, and system integrators. With decades of experience as HMI specialists, the company’s mission is to look beyond the industry norms to provide customers with high-quality HMI products, world-class services, and efficient control automation tools.

To ensure consistent quality in its products, Weintek heavily invests in Research and Development (R&D), and that continues to greatly advance user interface features and helps them

break conventional HMI expectations in the robotics and industrial industry. Today, the company offers a wide range of innovative products that meet the customers’ specific needs. It includes Easy Access 2.0, Weintek HMI with OPC UA service built-in, Weintek CMT HMI, Weintek HMI with MQTT, and SQL query on Weintek HMIs.

Weintek has had a history of bringing new innovative products to the table right from its early stages of inception. In 2009, Weintek introduced two wide-screens full-color HMI models the MT8070iH (7”) and MT8100i (10”). Prior to this introduction most of the competitors

focused on 5.7” grayscale and 10.4” 256 color models as there were new models leading the market trend. Running the most intuitive and feature-rich EasyBuilder8000 software, MT8070iH and MT8100i were outstandingly competitive. Within five years, Weintek’s new models became the best-selling HMI worldwide, and the 7” and 10” 16:9 touch screen became the standard in the industry field.

Four years later, Weintek introduced the new generation 7” and 10” models, MT8070iE and MT8100iE. The new iE Series is fully compatible with its predecessor, i Series. Equipped with a powerful CPU, the iE Series provides a much smoother operating experience. In 2016, Weintek Labs brought its innovative technology to the United Statesl, opening a Weintek USA branch (Weintek USA, Inc) to provide its HMI expertise and expedient solutions to the North American industrial market.

Breaking the Old Paradigms in the industry

Understanding that access to information through the human-machine interface has become a vital part of today’s workspace, the company has released its newcMT series, which enable customers to expand that access universally. Capable of supporting remote access via Smartphone or tablet applications, both the cMT3090 and cMT3151 feature a built-in server providing universal remote access. This allows them to act as a gateway between the plant floor and the rest of the outside world. Remote access through the cMT Viewer application (or EasyAccess 2.0 and OPC-UA and MQTT compatibility) provides unlimited control and monitoring capabilities which save travel time

and costs, giving them a more efficient work/time experience. Moreover, it allows access to dark data that would previously go unused. And the built-in EasyAccess 2.0 option provides a safe and secure VPN connection and encrypted data transmission between a remote PC (or a handheld device/tablet connected to a router) and the cMT HMI.

“Our products are not limited to the conventional HMI architecture: LCD + Touch Panel + Motherboard + Software. In addition, our factory introduced the IIoTHMI cMT Series. Since the introduction of the iPad, the use of tablet PCs has become more popular, and has gradually been deployed in various industrial fields,” explains Oscar Rojas, CEO, Weintek USA.

Today, customers are looking for cooperation that can deliver rugged/ well-designed HMIs with quality, reliability, remote access capabilities and an extensive PLC/ driver compatibility solution in the market. This, coupled with the need for higher efficiencies in manufacturing tools and equipment, is driving demand for remote- access, intelligent and intuitive operator interfaces with advanced visual-functionality. As the global leading HMI manufacturer, the company is poised to take the advantage of the growing IIoT needs in the manufacturing trends in the North American market by releasing cutting edge remote access capabilities with IIoT technology, as facilitated with its cMT series HMIs.

The company going forward is committed to contributing to the growth of our industrial footprint and enhancing manufacturing growth in North America by providing high-quality HMIs with innovative remote capabilities to customers. “We have an exciting new line of new IIoT/Remote Access products that will be unveiled later in 2018..we look forward to deliver, serve our customer base and grow within our territory with assistance from our distribution partners,” concludes, Rojas.

WEINTEK CONTINUES TO GREATLY ADVANCE USER INTERFACE FEATURES AND HELPS THEM BREAK CONVENTIONAL HMI EXPECTATIONS IN THE ROBOTICS AND INDUSTRIAL INDUSTRY
