The protagonist is the “good guy” the character trying to accomplish something in

the story.

                                                                                                

                                                

The antagonist is the “bad guy” the one who stands in the way of the protagonist

or makes the protagonist’s goal harder to achieve.

Characters can either be:

Round

OR …..Flat

The time and place of the story is the setting

All of this is put together in the

PLOTThe sequence of events – beginning, middle, end of

the story

Series of related episodes that grow out of the other

All stories begin with the EXPOSITION

The parts in which the reader begins to understand the characters, their relationships, and the setting

Once upon a time in a land far, far away …..

And move to ….

Rising Action - a conflict

Person vs. Person

Person vs. Nature Person vs. Society Person vs. Himself

The struggle between the protagonist and an opposing force.

Good stories throw in …

TwistsSomething that happens that makes the conflict more

complex and difficult to solve

The climax is the most exciting part!!
