TRIO – Student Support Services

OVERVIEW OF DEPARTMENT

Student Support Services is designed to provide support services to economically

disadvantaged, first-generation students and/or students with disabilities. The program

supports these diverse students in all areas of academic advisement, tutoring, social

adjustment, selecting majors, progression through classes, retention, and ultimately graduation.

MISSION STATEMENT

The University of North Dakota TRIO/Student Support Services is a federally funded grant

program that is designed to increase retention and graduation rates of 300 eligible UND

students and to foster an institutional climate that is supportive of the success of low income,

first generation college students and individuals with disabilities. Student Support Services

has established objectives, services, and activities related to the mission statement as

designated by the Department of Education.
