InfoSphere Streams Version 4.0 has made some key platform changes and introduced new concepts
Streams Studio Version 4.0 provides support for these new platform features– Domains / domain connections– Job groups and names– Application bundles– Terminology changes (host → resource)
What's changed?– ** Streams Explorer **– Project Explorer– Launch Job dialog

Streams Explorer - Domains
Added support for Domains
Tree now under “Streams Domains”– Domains contain Instances– Instances contain Jobs

Streams Explorer – Domain Connections
You now need to connect to domains– You will be prompted to add a domain connection on startup with a new
workspace– Domain connections can also be added manually

Streams Explorer – Streams Jobs shortcut
Streams Jobs lists all jobs in the full Streams Domain tree, from all instances
Labels show status of the jobs
High-level job actions are available– Show Instance graph, show metrics, cancel job, get job logs, etc– All other actions are available in the full tree– “Goto job” will navigate to the job entry in the full Streams Domain tree

Streams Instances lists all instances in the full Streams Domain tree
Labels show status of the instances
High-level instance actions are available– Instances can be created / removed– Show Instance graph, show
metrics, submit job, start/stop instance
– All other actions are available in the full tree

IBM ORB requirement is eliminated– Communication with the Streams platform is now done through the JMX service
Logging and tracing – domains have changed the logging and tracing options– No instance log retrieval, Job/PE/Operator log retrieval– Domain logging level cannot be changed– No domain tracing control
'Publish Application' is gone
