    PAGE 1 (FOUR PANELS)

    PAGE 1, Panel 1.

Wide Panel at the top of the page, taking up the upper fourth of the pages space. We focus on

ABBI FRYEs face, particularly her half-open eyes, barely open and only just waking up. Her

crimson hair is a bit in her eyes, but we only see a hint of it. There are bags under her eyes, and

her face, from what we can see of it, is a bit dirty.

    CAPTION 1:

I dont know why I wake up in the morning anymore.

    PAGE 1, Panel 2.

This, and the rest of the panels on the first page, share the same shape; a wide panel that takes

up a fourth of the page. This, however, shows a blurry image of JUN IWASE, focusingawkwardly on his green jacket and we only get a fleeting glimpse at the rest of his body, only

seeing his chin as he rushes through an alley in the middle of the day.

    CAPTION 2:

I mean, I dont have much to care about, or think about.

    PAGE 1, Panel 3.

We get more of a look at Abbis face... sort of. We see her short, crimson half and eyes, still

half- awake and her face a little dirty. Half of her face, however, is covered by a blanket and thearea is still covered in the shadows.

    CAPTION 3:

Im just a homeless girl with nothing to me but a name...

    PAGE 1, Panel 4.

Its a close-up of the left half of DOMINO VINLANDs face in the foreground. Domino is a

punk kid, seventeen years old with bleach blond hair, a wiry frame and teeth like a shark. He

doesnt have much of a stature, but hes looking into the background, clearly running down the

alley, running away from Jun Iwase. Jun Iwase is far back into the background, running

    forward.

    JUN IWASE: (SHOUTING)

    Hey!

    PAGE 2 (4 PANELS)

    PAGE 2, Panel 1.

Panel layout should be similar, if not almost exactly the same; four wide panels, each taking up

a fourth of the page. Domino comically trips over a make-shift home made of tons of

cardboard and trash, just as Abbis finally wakes up, popping her head out of the gigantic pile

of trash that serves as her home. Abbis reaction clearly shows shes barely aware of whats

going on, and that shes half-awake.

    SFX 1:

    CRASH!

    ABBI FRYE: (WEAK)

    Eh?

    PAGE 2, Panel 2.

This focuses in on Juns face, smirking; this is his chance.

    JUN IWASE :

Thanks a lot! GET READY FOR-

    PAGE 2, Panel 3.

Domino yells in an extremely overexaggerated fashion, head point upward.

    DOMINO VINLAND: (SHOUTING)

    HENCHMEN!

    PAGE 2, Panel 4.

Juns expression says all; a slightly fearful, dumbfounded look.

    JUN IWASE:

    ... Henchmen?

    PAGE 3 (4 PANELS)

    PAGE 3, Panel 1.

Square panel, taking up half of the page space. Two gigantic, square-shaped cliched goons

appear in front of Jun; each wearing a suit and with idiotic sunglasses on to go with their shit

eating grins. The only real difference is in their hair styles; the one on the left is bald and the

one on the right has a buzz cut. Each of them flex, and combined, theyre a wall of mass that

tower over Jun. Juns stance clearly shows his awe and surprise.

    JUN IWASE 1:

    Oh, I, um, see...

    PAGE 3, Panel 2.

A long panel, taking up the left side of the bottom half of the page, showing the bald goonsheads as they hear something from off-screen.

    ABBI FRYE: (OP)

    Hey, look over here!

    PAGE 3, Panel 3.

A panel with the same shape and size of Panel 2, right next to it, showing the same goon

looking in a different direction as before.

    PAGE 3, Panel 4.

A square panel, taking up the rest of the space, focusing on Juns eyes, as they seem to have a

    certain spark in them.

    PAGE 4 (6 PANELS)

    PAGE 4, Panel 1.

In this wide panel taking up the top third of the page, Juns fist collides with the bald goons

stomach, practically penetrating his flesh as the force of Juns punch seems to force its way

into the mans stomach, looking extremely uncomfortable. Spit comes out of the mans

surprised face, yet the one even more surprised one is the goon with the buzz cut, looking in

complete disbelief as this puny Asian kid decimates his partner with a single punch.

    GOON: (WEAK)

    Guh...

    PAGE 4, Panel 2.

A long panel, the first in a series of five, showing the bald goon as he topples over.

    PAGE 4, Panel 3.

Long, vertical panel. Jun looks mildly impressed as he speaks.

    JUN IWASE 1:

    I cant believe that worked.

    PAGE 4, Panel 4.

Abbi Frye stands there, looking dumb-founded herself.

    ABBI FRYE:

    Neither can I.

    PAGE 4, Panel 5.

Jun looks rather happy, as he speaks.

    JUN IWASE 2:

Well, thanks a lot for the-

    PAGE 5 (5 PANELS)

    PAGE 5, Panel 1.

A long panel, taking up the left fourth of the page, with Juns back in the foreground, Jun is on

the floor, just starting to come up from the ground, rubbing his cheek lightly. The gigantic,

raging goon is seen, towering over Jun, red-faced and angry, looking like angered swine.

    JUN IWASE 1:

Oh, right. Youre here. Sorry about that, I was just having a conversation...

    PAGE 5, Panel 2.

A square panel, the first in a series of four that take up the rest of the page. A fist rockets

    towards Jun.

    PAGE 5, Panel 3.

Juns eye is focused on, unwavering, with the same spark in at as before.

    PAGE 5, Panel 4.

The fist collides with the concrete ground, cracking it a bit.

    PAGE 5, Panel 5.

We see the goons face, and its pretty obvious that hes confused.

    PAGE 6 (3 PANELS)

    PAGE 6, Panel 1.

Long, horizontal panel taking up a third of the page. Jun is seen pushing against the monster of

a man with a large amount of power behind him, practically looking like a quarterback. The

crazy thing? Hes actually doing something.

    PAGE 6, Panel 2.

A long, horizontal panel taking up a third of the page. Juns hard-working, sweating face is

seen, his eyes crazed and his mouth open, screaming.

    JUN IWASE 1: (SHOUTING)

    GRAAAAA-

    PAGE 6, Panel 3.

A long, horizontal page taking up a third of the page. It shows Abbi thinking... as it appears

that shes come to a realization.

    ABBI FRYE 1:

    Wait a second...

    PAGE 7 (3 PANELS)

    PAGE 7, Panel 1.

Another long, horizontal panel. We focus even more onto Jun, his mouth more open, more

sweat pouring down his face, as he yells.

    JUN IWASE 2: (SHOUTING)

    HAAAAAAAAAAA!

    PAGE 7, Panel 2.

Yet another long, horizontal panel. We sees Abbi in full panic, practically begging, pleading.

    ABBI FRYE 2:

    NO! NO! Please, no!

    PAGE 7, Panel 3.

Jun topples the other goon into a gigantic cardboard mess full of garbage and other thing; the

same thing that Domino crashed into.

    PAGE 8 (7 PANELS)

    PAGE 8, Panel 1.

A long, horizontal panel taking up roughly a fourth of the left page. A light dust fills the air as

Jun looks upon the unconscious man, toppled over onto a bed.

    JUN IWASE:

Well, that takes care of him.

    PAGE 8, Panel 2.

This is a small square panel, the first in a series of six, that take up the rest of the page; each of

the same size and in a typical format. This one shows Abbis face, angry and red-faced.

ABBI FRYE:What the hell?! That was my house!

    PAGE 8, Panel 3.

Yet another square panel, showing Jun with a meek expression and a weak smile.

    JUN IWASE:

    Oh, Im sorry about that!

    PAGE 8, Panel 4.

This one is yet another shot of Abbis irritated face, though now we can see more of her body,

    roughly up to her shoulders.

    ABBI FRYE:

Sorry my ass! Who are you to do something about this, anyway?!

    PAGE 8, Panel 5.

Juns meek expression is even meeker, as its clear hes sweating a bit.

    JUN IWASE:

Um, Im kind of... a police officer?

    PAGE 8, Panel 6.

Abbis gone from angry to curious.

    ABBI FRYE:

    Oh, a police officer?

    PAGE 8, Panel 7.

Abbis face has immediately gone from curious to mischievous, a sly smile forming on her

    face.

    ABBI FRYE:

Then I suppose you wouldnt mind showing some identification, would you?

    PAGE 9 (5 PANELS)

    PAGE 9, Panel 1.

A square panel, to the left of a much wider one, both of which take up the top half of the page.

This panel shows some sort of futuristic device, circular in design, with Juns gloved hand

presenting it forward. A hologram emits from the top, showing off some form of identification.

It shows a small photo of Juns mugshot, his name, and some sort of barcode. At the top is a

sort of miniature badge, reading K.I.A.F, Certified Agent, Kinzoku Police Department.

    JUN IWASE 1: (OFF-PANEL)

    See?

    ABBI FRYE 1: (OFF-PANEL)

    What the heck is KIAF?

    PAGE 9, Panel 2.

A wide panel. This shows Jun, mainly explaining things in a rather professor-like fashion,

with the KIAF logo in the background.

    JUN IWASE 1:

    Youve never heard of KIAF?

    ABBI FRYE 1: (OFF-PANEL)

    Nope.

    JUN IWASE 2:

Basically, were a specialized department meant to take down specific individuals or groups

within the city, usually big-time hackers that are hazardous to the citys network.

    ABBI FRYE 2: (OFF-PANEL)

So, youre pretty much glorified bounty hunters?

    JUN IWASE 2:

Um- its a little more complicated than that.

    PAGE 9, Panel 3.

A wide panel, the first in a series of two in the middle of section of the page. This shows Abbi,

face to face with Jun, though Abbi is roughly a head shorter than he is. Jun is holding his

circular device, fiddling with it, as his expression is still that of meekness.

Well, either way, youre part of the police, arent you? I demand compensation!

    JUN IWASE 1:

Well, you are entitled to it, let me just-

    PAGE 9, Panel 4.

Another square panel, as Jun is clearly irritated, sighing as Abbi seems a bit confused. A small

    beep comes from Juns device.

    SFX 1:

    BEEP!

    JUN IWASE 1:

Goddamn it. Well, thats what I get for causing collateral damage.

    ABBI FRYE 1:

    Wait, what?

    PAGE 9, Panel 5.

A wide panel, taking up the final bottom part of the page. We see the two in a different

perspective. Jun is in the foreground, putting his palm to his face, clearly annoyed by the news.

Abbi seems less surprised, but follows behind, being seen in the background.

    JUN IWASE 1:

Nothing, come with me. Youll be staying at my place for a little while.

    PAGE 10 (4 PANELS)

    PAGE 10, Panel 1.

One of two wide, vertical panels that take up a third of the page. This one is a expositional

    panel; showing Juns triple-decker apartment.

    CAPTION 1:

    Later.

    PAGE 10, Panel 2.

This is the second of the horizontal, wide panels that take up a third of the page, this time

showing Juns rather dirty house; his computer and desk covered in soda cans, an ashtray and

and wires, his coffee table covered in similar things and his couch covered in various snack

packages and chip bags. On the wall, theres a pair of Japanese swords. Jun and Abbi are seenfrom the side of the panel, Jun with a regular smile on his face and Abbi with a disgusted look.

    JUN IWASE 1:

All right, so heres my house. Ive got an extra bedroom, but feel free to make yourself at

    home.

    ABBI FRYE 1:

Urgh... tell me why Im staying at your house again?

JUN IWASE 2:The chief told me to take care of it myself... for certain reasons.

    PAGE 10, Panel 3.

A square panel, taking up a fraction of the bottom third of the page. We see Abbi, looking up,

as she seems rather entranced by something off-panel.

    ABBI FRYE:

    Reasons, eh? Ohhh! Whats this?

    PAGE 10, Panel 4.

This is a wide panel taking up the rest of the bottom part of the panel, showing off a pair of

sheathed Japanese swords; one long, and one short. Theyre a katana and wakizashi,

respectively. We see Abbi from the bottom, staring at them with a mesmerized, excited look on

    her face.

Theyre something a friend of mine gave me.

    Yeah.

    ABBI FRYE 2:

    PAGE 11 (8 PANELS)

    PAGE 11, Panel 1.

A square panel, showing Abbis overexaggerated expression, fake tears coming from her eyes

and eyes blob-like as her lower lip quivers.

    ABBI FRYE:

    B-Bu-But...

    PAGE 11, Panel 2.

A square panel of Jun speaking. Juns face clearly shows hes irritated by his new roommate,

as we see him from the side.

JUN IWASE 1:Listen, I dont need this right now. I just got a tip from the department about where that guy I

was chasing might be next. And I dont have a sitter for you, so I might just have to take you

    with me.

    PAGE 11, Panel 3.

Another square panel, showing Abbi, in the last in a sequence of three. Abbis face is yet again

    somewhat angry.

ABBI FRYE:Im not a kid! For your information, Im um-

    PAGE 11, Panel 4.

Jun looks somewhat assuming in yet another square panel, focusing on his face.

    JUN IWASE:

Dont even know your age, huh? Whats your name, then?

PAGE 11, Panel 5.Abbi blushes a bit, but blurts out her name angrily.

    ABBI FRYE:

We focus on the small contraption that Jun was holding before, as it seems that, on the

holographic screen, Jun is putting her name and face into a search engine.

    JUN IWASE (OFF-PANEL)

Abbi Frye, eh? Well, lets see all your informatio-

Another square panel, with the same look on the devices holographic screen, with the search

    engine only reading NOT FOUND.

    JUN IWASE (OFF-PANEL)

    What the hell?

    PAGE 11, Panel 8.

A wide panel taking up the rest of the bottom of the page. Jun walks away, in front, while

    Abbi trails behind.

    JUN IWASE

Whatever, the point is, I have to get going. And youre coming with me, all right?

    Whatever.

    PAGE 12, Panel 1.

We open with another wide expeditionary panel taking up the top third of the page. This time, it

shows some sort of techno-y club called the HELIX NEBULA, with plenty of lights outside

of the place. However, the look isnt really that of a techno atheistic; its combined with that of

    an 8-bit, retro game design.

    PAGE 12, Panel 2.

A rectangular, splash panel taking up most of the page with space on its right side for a small,

wide panel. We see the interior of the place, people dancing while large, LCD screens float

around, showing off various strange and pixillated images as the floors change color with the

music. The place feels large, with people not just on one floor; many people dance on smaller

    platforms floating around.

    PAGE 12, Panel 3.

covered in some sort of hoodie.

This is the first in a series of three tall, horizontal panels that take up half of the page. We see

Domino Vinland sit at a bar as the chaos remains in the background. There isnt anyone near

    him at the bar.

    PAGE 13, Panel 2.

A strong-looking, tattooed barkeep speaks to him. Hes not like the henchmen in the comical

amount of muscle mass they had, but still, hes a ripped guy wearing nothing by a tank top.

    BARKEEP:

Anything I can help you with?

    PAGE 13, Panel 3.

Dominos hooded face looks upward, coming a bit into the light as his shark-like mouth opens

    up.

    DOMINO VINLAND 1:

Im looking for information, particularly, a certain piece of data. Does Spotlight ring any

    bells?

    PAGE 13, Panel 4.

A wide panel, taking up the left half of the bottom of the page. The once-friendly barkeep looks

more grim, looking at Domino as if a rat had suddenly entered his bar and started speaking to

    him.

    BARKEEP:

Im afraid it doesnt. And even if it doesnt, you shouldnt bring things up like that here. Im

sick of your type running around here, looking for information.

PAGE 13, Panel 5.Another one in the similar set of wide panels. This focuses on Dominos hand, as he reaches

into his hoodie, seeming to pull out a gun from it.

    DOMINO VINLAND:

We see a surprised, and defeated look on the Barkeep in this square panel.

    BARKEEP:

Fine. Just tell me why you need it, why would you ever want that data? Its useless to anyonebut-

    PAGE 14, Panel 3.

We focus on Dominos face, as hes got a mad smile on his face and a furious spark in his eye.

    DOMINO VINLAND:

Dont bother trying to talk about the repercussions of my actions. Ive had it with that shit; all I

know is that whoever the fuck is paying me wants this bad. So bad, theyre willing to give me

hired muscle and firepower. As long as Ive got some income coming in, I dont care.

    PAGE 14, Panel 4.

We see the barkeep reach shakily under the bar, where we see his masculine hand reach under

the bar, where theres a USB Flash Drive taped under the bar.

    BARKEEP: (OFF-PANEL)

Fine, then. Ill give you the data. But be forewarned- therell be more than one mans blood on

your hands. Your clients, theyre using you as a puppet; what theyve given you is nothing, at

    interested.

    JUN IWASE 1:

The rest of the page is taken up by two equally-sized horizontal panels. In this one, we see Jun

upper-cut Domino, his gun dropping to the floor, as the barkeep looks in the background,

    confused.

    SFX 1:

    BAM!

    PAGE 16, Panel 4.

We see Abbi, looking at something, with a shocked look; or not. Her eyes are dialated, but it

    PAGE 17 (4 PANELS)

    PAGE 17, Panel 1.

A rectangular panel, taking up the top half of the page. Abbi is surrounded by a group of three

muscle-bound thugs, much like the ones Jun fought before. Jun is in the foreground, to the left

    of the panel, looking back.

    JUN IWASE:

Run away! Ill take care of them la-

    ABBI FRYE:

    No.

PAGE 17, Panel 2.This is the first in a series of three, wide panels that take up the bottom half of the page. We see

Abbi reach into her back, as her action takes up these three panels. Jun is in the background, as

he looks back in surprise; but Abbi has a ferocious, focused look on her face.

    JUN IWASE:

    What?!

    PAGE 17, Panel 3.

Abbi draws a katana, as we focus on the blade coming out of the sheath.

    SFX 1:

    SHING!

    PAGE 17, Panel 4.

We focus in on Abbis face, with the same ferocious, focsued look on her face and her strange

    eyes.

    ABBI FRYE:

    Ive got this.

    PAGE 18 (4 PANELS)

    PAGE 18, Panel 1.

More triangular panels are used here, as the first three panels are essentially one large square

panel, cut into three different sections, the first and last being right trangles and the middle

being a thin parallelogram. IN the first page, one of the goons is cut down, being thrown

    aback.

    SFX 1:

    SLASH!

    PAGE 18, Panel 2.

Yet another panel with Abbi cutting one of them down.

    SFX 2:

    SHING!

    PAGE 18, Panel 3.

The final panel, this one with one of the mens clothes being cut in half.

    SFX 3:

    RIP!

    PAGE 18, Panel 4.

A wide panel, showing Abbis katana sheathed.

    PAGE 19 (5 PANELS)

    PAGE 19, Panel 1.

The first of the three panels that are rectangular, and of equal size. In the first panel, we see

Abbi, but without the ferocious look, and instead with a slightly surprised, but somewhat

vacant, look on her face, her katana in her hands, and a pile of unconscious thugs in the

background... without a single mark. Jun is in the foreground, mouth agape.

    JUN IWASE 1:

How did you... what... When did you take my swords?

    PAGE 19, Panel 2.

Panel 2 and Panel 3 are wide panels, each half the size of Panel 1. Abbi merely looks

    dumbstruck, confused as she speaks.

    ABBI FRYE:

I dont know... I just did... and I think I did kind of a... Kenshin thing?

    PAGE 19, Panel 3.

Jun looks absolutely amazed by Abbi, as we focus on his face.

    JUN IWASE 2:

    Who are you?

    PAGE 19, Panel 4.

Abbi blushes a bit as she speaks, a bit embarrassed by his interest, but she puts on an

attractive, weak smile as she speaks. This, and the fifith panel, is the same size as Panel 1.

    ABBI FRYE:

My name is Abbi Frye... and thats about all I know. All I can remember was that I woke up in

the gutters one day about six months ago, and Ive been living on the streets ever since. But... I

still remember stuff. Facts. Knowledge. Abilities. Interests. But nothing important, at least

nothing important to me. There are moments where... something comes over me, and I dosomething I never thought I could do. Thats all I know, and thats all Ive ever known about

    myself.

    PAGE 19, Panel 4.

We see Jun, with a full smile on for the second time, as he talks to her.

    PAGE 20 (3 PANELS)

    PAGE 20, Panel 1.

Square panel at the top showing Abbi, a bit confused by his statement.

    ABBI FRYE:

    What I can... do?

    PAGE 20, Panel 2.

Square panel, it shows Jun, offering his hand forward.

    JUN IWASE 1:

    Yeah. After all...

    PAGE 20, Panel 3.

A large, splash page taking up the rest of the page, showing a beaten, defeated Domino

Vinland in the foreground, on the floor, the defeated thugs in the background and in the middle

of it all is Jun and Abbi, in an impassioned handshake, Jun with a grin on his face and Abbi

with a mesmerized look on her face.

    JUN IWASE 1:

From this moment forward, were partners.
